摘要: A filter is configured for efficient combustion of particulates accumulated on a catalyst layer 7 in both a rapid combustion range and a slow combustion range. The catalyst layer 7 on an exhaust gas passage wall of a filter 1 includes a mixture of a Rh-doped Ce-containing composite oxide particle material loaded with Pt and a composite particle material loaded with Pt. In mixed particles of this mixture, Zr-containing composite oxide particles containing no Ce and activated alumina particles are mixed together and agglomerated.

摘要: Disclosed is a particulate filter 10, which comprises a filter body 8 including a plurality of filter segments F1, F2 joined to each other by a joining material 7, wherein each of the filter segments includes a plurality of inflow cells each having a closed end on a downstream side in an exhaust-gas flow direction, and a plurality of outflow cells each having a closed end on an upstream side in the exhaust-gas flow direction. The filter segments include a first filter segment located in a central region of the particulate filter and designed to form each of the inflow cells to have an opening area approximately equal to that of each of the outflow cells, and a second filer segment located in at least a part of an outer peripheral region of the particulate filter and designed to form each of the inflow cells to have an opening area greater than that of each of the outflow cells. The present invention can keep the central region of the particulate filter from becoming overheated during a particulate-filter regeneration process, while suppressing a pressure loss.

摘要: Disclosed is an exhaust gas purifying catalyst, which comprises a catalyst layer formed on a honeycomb-shaped support. The catalyst layer is formed by mixing a catalyst powder (A) consisting of a composite oxide (RhZrCeNdO) which contains at least Ce, Zr, and a catalytic noble metal composition, and a catalyst powder (B) consisting of a Zr-based oxide (RhZrXO) which contains at least Zr and has Rh existing on a surface thereof. A ratio (RhZrXO/RhZrCeNdO) of a mass of the catalyst powder (B) to a total mass of the catalyst powder (A) and the catalyst powder (B) may be set in the range of 1 to 50%. Further, the catalyst powder (B) may consist of a composite oxide which contains Zr as a primary component, a rare-earth metal except Ce, and Rh. The exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the present invention can provide enhanced exhaust gas conversion efficiency.

摘要: Disclosed is an exhaust gas purifying catalyst, which comprises a CeZr-based composite oxide capable of maintaining a hollow structure to ensure an oxygen absorbing/releasing capability, even after being exposed to high-temperature exhaust gas. The exhaust gas purifying catalyst comprises a honeycomb-shaped substrate, and a catalyst layer formed on a surface of the substrate. The catalyst layer contains a composite oxide which includes cerium (Ce) and zirconium (Zr) and has a hollow structure, and a catalytic metal supported by the composite oxide. The composite oxide having the hollow structure includes, in a state after being subjected to a thermal aging in Air at 1000° C. for 24 hours, a particle with a shape having an outer diameter of 750 to 1000 nm and a shell thickness of 80 to 120 nm.

摘要: A Ce—Zr mixed oxide is employed as an oxygen storage component for a lean-NOx catalyst, and catalytic precious metal atoms are placed at and/or between crystal lattice points of the mixed oxide. This structure prevents the sintering of the precious metal and accelerates movement of oxygen ions in each of crystallites of the Ce—Zr mixed oxide to increase the oxygen storage/release amount of the mixed oxide, which enhances the NOx removal performance of the catalyst.

摘要: The present invention is intended to ensure the improvement in catalytic performance of an exhaust gas catalytic converter, which is an essential performance thereof, ensure the thermal resistance thereof and downsize the converter, i.e., improve the arrangeability thereof. The exhaust gas catalytic converter has an upstream catalyst and a downstream catalyst which are arranged in upstream and downstream sides of an engine exhaust passage through which exhaust gas flows. Each of the upstream catalyst and the downstream catalyst contains an oxygen storage component. The oxygen storage component in the upstream catalyst has a structure in which Rh atoms are placed at or between crystal lattice points of a mixed oxide containing Ce and Zr and has a larger amount of oxygen storage than the oxygen storage component in the downstream catalyst under the same temperature conditions.

Accordingly, improper vibrations or noises can be restrained from occurring when the rich air-fuel-ratio control is executed to release the trapped NOx from the NOx trap catalyst.
