摘要: Techniques for implementing a fan-less mode in a Power over Ethernet (PoE) network device are provided. According to one set of embodiments, the PoE network device can receive a user command to enable the fan-less mode. In response to the command, the PoE network device can (1) turn off the active cooling fans of the device, and (2) modify a PoE power budget of the device from a first amount to a second, reduced amount that is less than the first amount.

摘要: One embodiment of the present invention provides a computing system. The computing system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions that are executed by the processor. The computing system stores in a first table a first mapping between a first switch identifier and a next-hop switch identifier for the first switch identifier, and stores in a second table a second mapping between the first switch identifier and a first media access control (MAC) address of a remote device. The computing system encapsulates a first packet, which has first MAC address as a destination address, in a first encapsulation header with the first switch identifier as an egress switch identifier of the first encapsulation header. This encapsulated packet is forwarded in a network of interconnected switches based on the first encapsulation header.

The computing system includes a policy management module and a communication module coupled to the policy management module. During operation, the policy management module recognizes a local policy indicating how a data flow is to be processed and identifies a data flow associated with the policy. The communication module constructs a request for a flow definition from a controller in a software-defined network. A flow definition indicates how the data flow is processed in the software-defined network.

摘要: An analytics and diagnostic node according to the present disclosure monitors oversubscription and determines flow metrics by receiving mirror command frames from one or more switching nodes. The mirror command frames could correspond to a multiple flows traversing over a connection within a network. The analytics and diagnostic node collects at least one latency metric for each of the flows using timestamps found within the mirror command frames. Based on the latency metrics and timestamps, the analytic diagnostic node determines an average data rate for each of the flows. The analytics and diagnostic node also computes the cumulative data rates corresponding to different bucket intervals based on the average data rates. To detect oversubscription, the analytics and diagnostic node compares the cumulative data rates with one or more oversubscription rules.

摘要: Techniques for performing intelligent load balancer selection in a multi-load balancer environment are provided. In one embodiment, a computer system can generate a user interface for deploying a virtual IP address (VIP) on a load balancer in a network environment, where the network environment includes a plurality of load balancers, and where the user interface presents a plurality of criteria for selecting one of the plurality of load balancers. The computer system can further receive, from a user, a selection of one or more of the plurality of criteria, and can collect, from each load balancer in the plurality of load balancers, statistics that are relevant to the one or more criteria. The computer system can then select a load balancer from among the plurality of load balancers based on the one or more criteria and the collected statistics.

In one embodiment, a computer system can monitor one or more metrics pertaining to an infrastructure for an application at a first site. If the one or more metrics exceed or fall below one or more corresponding thresholds, the computer system can clone the infrastructure at a second site distinct from the first site, thereby enabling the application to be hosted at the second site.

摘要: Embodiments described herein provide a switch. The switch can include one or more ports, a communication module, and a flow rule management module. During operation, the communication module obtains a flow rule from a notification message from a controller of a software-defined network. The flow rule management module then determines whether a priority value of the flow rule is in a local flow table. The flow table can store flow rules received from the controller. If the priority value of the flow rule is not in the local flow table, the flow rule management module stores the flow rule in a location of the flow table allocated for the priority value.

摘要: Packets or data units and their related credit returns each include an assigned phase value. When a credit test is desired, the phase value of outgoing data units is changed, for example from 0 to 1, and a new counter is set to a value of the outstanding credits having the original phase value. With each original phase credit received, the counter value is decremented. When a credit having the new phase value is received, the counter value indicates the amount of any credit error and appropriate corrections may be made.

摘要: One embodiment of the present invention provides a switch. The switch comprises one or more ports, a link management module and a load balancing module. The link management module operates a port of the one or more ports of the switch in conjunction with a remote switch to form a virtual link aggregation. The load balancing module generates an index of a weight distribution vector based on address information of a multicast group associated with the virtual link aggregation. A slot of the weight distribution vector corresponds to a respective switch participating in the virtual link aggregation. In response to the index indicating a slot corresponding to the switch, the load balancing module designates the switch as primary switch for the multicast group, which is responsible for forwarding multicast data of the multicast group via the virtual link aggregation.
