摘要： A composition of matter is disclosed wherein the composition comprises a hydrazide compound of the formula: wherein: R1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkyl ether, and phenyl;R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkyl ether, and aryl; andn is an integer of from 0 to 10;and wherein:when R1 is phenyl, it is of the structure: wherein R7, R8, and R9 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkyl ether, and aryl, or R7 can be combined with R8 to form a ring of 5 or 6 carbon atoms.The hydrazides are useful as stabilizers for lubricants, greases, and polymeric systems, particularly lubricating oils, as are maleated polymers that have been functionalized with them.

摘要： A composition of matter is disclosed wherein the composition comprises an N-aromatic substituted acid amide compound selected from the group consisting of compounds of formula (I) wherein A and B are independently selected alkylene groups; R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkylether, or ester; R2 is hydrogen if R1 is hydrogen; R2 is an alkyl primary amine if R1 is alkyl, alkylether, or ester; R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl; R5 is a sterically hindered phenolic group of formula (II) or formula (III) wherein X is CH2, S, NH, or O; and m, n, and p are independently selected integers equal to 0 or 1. These compositions may be used as such or they may be bound to a polymer backbone via a linking moiety. In either case, they are useful as antioxidants, particularly in lubricating oil compositions

摘要： Disclosed herein is a composition comprising: A) a lubricant; and B) a mixture of antioxidants, wherein said mixture is prepared by the partial condensation of an alkylated diphenylamine with an aldehyde or ketone in the presence of an acidic catalyst to yield at least one acridan of the general formula: wherein: R1, R2, R3, and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C3 to C32 alkyl, and C3 to C32 alkenyl, provided that at least one of R1, R2, R3, and R4 is not hydrogen, and R5 and R6 are independently selected from the group consisting of C1 to C20 hydrocarbyl and hydrogen; wherein, at the termination of said condensation, residual alkylated diphenylamine is not separated from the acridan product.

摘要： Disclosed herein is a process for the preparation of alkylated diarylamines comprising adding to said diarylamine an olefin mixture containing highly reactive fractions, as well as fractions exhibiting a relatively lower chemical reactivity, in the presence of an acidic clay catalyst at a temperature low enough to prevent substantial deactivation of the catalyst until the addition is complete and then increasing the temperature to increase the alkylation rate of the less reactive fractions.
