Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for industrially producing an optically active lysine derivative useful as a pharmaceutical intermediate. More particularly, the present invention provides a production method including protecting an amino group or an amino group and carboxyl group of optically active 2-amino-6-methyl-6-nitroheptanoic acid with a protecting group, reducing a nitro group to synthesize a 6,6-dimethyl lysine derivative and reacting the 6,6-dimethyl lysine derivative with an acetic acid derivative.
Abstract:
A feed additive for sows containing, as an active ingredient, a reduced form of folic acid. Included are 7,8-dihydrofolic acid, leucovorin, liver powder, disrupted cells or cell extract of a microorganism, etc.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of the production of (S)-.gamma.-halogenated-.beta.-hydroxybutyric acid esters at a high accumulation and a high yield. A microorganism belonging to the genus Stemphylium, Alternaria, Corynespora or Torulaspora is used to asymmetrically reduce a .gamma.-halogenated-acetoacetic acid ester into an (S)-.gamma.-halogenated-.beta.-hydroxybutyric acid ester, and the (S)-.gamma.-halogenated-.beta.-hydroxybutyric acid ester produced is recovered from the reaction mixture.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a neutral metalloprotease from actinomycetes which selectively cleaves a pro-structure part of a microbial protransglutaminase and a gene encoding said neutral metalloprotease. An active microbial transglutaminase having the pro-structure part cleaved can be obtained by culturing a microorganism into which a gene encoding the neutral metalloprotease from actinomycetes according to the present invention has been introduced, where by producing the neutral metalloprotease from actinomycetes, and reacting it on a microbial protransglutaminase.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a 5-substituted hydantoin racemase, which efficiently catalyzes racemization reactions at a high optimum temperature for racemization reactions, DNA coding for the racemase, and processes for producing optically active amino acids.

Abstract:
Administering a feed composition, containing at least one member selected from the group consisting of sterilized bacterial cells; disrupted cell fragments obtained by mechanical disruption or enzymatic decomposition of the cells and cell wall component-containing fractions obtained by fractionation of the disrupted cell fragments, to pregnant sows and mother sows results in a reduction in stillborn piglets, a decrease in mortality during the breast-feeding period, a reduction in the occurrence of diarrhea during the breast-feeding period, and an increase in body weight of piglets.

Abstract:
A composition and method for the prevention and treatment of diarrhea in domesticated animals, comprising sterilized cells of aerobic bacteria belonging to the genus Bacillus, Brevibacterium, Corynebacterium, Escherichia, Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, or Streptomyces, a cell homogenate of said sterilized cells, a cell wall component-containing fraction of said homogenate or mixtures thereof. In particular species of Corynebacterium glutamicum and Brevibacterium lactofermentum as well as strains thereof, such as A.T.C.C. 13060 and A.T.C.C. 13869, respectively, are useful in the treatment of diarrhea in domesticated animals.
