摘要： A patient-specific registration jig for registering an orthopaedic surgical instrument with a bony anatomy of a patient includes a head and an adaptor coupled to the head. The head includes a patient-specific contact surface configured to contact a portion of the patient's bony anatomy such that the head can be coupled to the patient's bony anatomy in a unique position. The adaptor includes an elongated shank having a first end coupled to the head and a second end and an adaptor end attached to the second end of the elongated shank. The adaptor end is configured to be received by a clutch of the orthopaedic surgical instrument. A method for registering the orthopaedic surgical instrument using the patient-specific registration jig is also disclosed.

摘要： A ball and socket joint prosthesis (10) for use in arthroplasty is provided. The prosthesis includes a body (32) for implantation at least partially within the medullary canal (24) of a long bone (12). The long bone defines trabeculae (60) in the proximal cancellous bone (22) and lamellae (71) in the cortical bone (65). The body includes a proximal portion (52) thereof and a distal portion (54). The proximal portion has a medial periphery (69) and includes surface features (64) on a substantial portion of its proximal portion. The surface features are positioned to optimally transfer load from the prosthesis to the long bone.

The non-rotating tibial insert and the rotating tibial insert are selectively coupleable to the tibial tray such that a fixed or a mobile orthopaedic prosthesis may be configured. 摘要： A kit for assembly of a modular joint prosthesis includes at least two stem-body elements sized for insertion into the shank of the bone and at least two head members sized to replace one bearing surface of the joint. Each stem-body element includes a collar to be superimposed on the resected level of the bone, said collar providing a male taper at its outer diameter. Each head member is formed with an inner surface providing a corresponding female taper for receiving the male taper of each stem-body element. The engagement of the female taper on the male taper defines a space above the collar and a passageway extending from the space between the head member and the collar and provides a mechanical connection between the head and the stem-body element.

摘要： A surgical instrument has an elongate guide member and a reciprocable member. The elongate guide member provides a protected path of travel for an implant from outside the body to a position near a damaged tissue site. The reciprocable member is movable along the elongate guide member to push the implant along its path of travel. The reciprocable member can include an implant carrier. The implant can be an orthopaedic implant for repair or regeneration of soft tissue at a damaged joint site. The implant can be larger than the transverse dimension of the elongate guide member and folded or rolled to fit within the elongate guide member. Use of this instrument protects the implant from damage as it is delivered to the damaged joint site. The invention also includes a surgical method for delivering an implant to a damaged tissue site.

The slide instrument may be sized so that it can be inserted through standard arthroscopic portals to position the distal end of the slide instrument at a damaged tissue site. 摘要： A medical procedure includes providing a prosthesis which includes (i) a body portion having a rear surface and a bearing surface, and (ii) an anchor peg including a shaft extending from the rear surface of the body portion, wherein the anchor peg includes a plurality of outwardly extending fins secured to the shaft, and further wherein the plurality of outwardly extending fins each possesses a first diameter. The medical procedure further includes creating an anchor hole in a natural bone, the anchor hole possessing a second diameter which is less than the first diameter. In addition, the method procedure includes positioning the anchor peg within the anchor hole so that each of the plurality of outwardly extending fins deforms so as to possess (i) a concave side which faces an open end of the anchor hole, and (ii) a convex side that faces a closed end of the anchor hole.
