A process for making particles for delivery of drug nanoparticles is disclosed herein. The process comprises the steps of (a) forming a suspension of drug nanoparticles by mixing a precipitant solution with an anti-solvent solution under micro-mixing environment, where the formed nanoparticles have a narrow particle size distribution; (b) providing an excipient to at least one of the precipitant solution, the anti-solvent solution and the suspension of drug nanoparticles, the excipient being selected to maintain said drug nanoparticles in a dispersed state when in liquid form; and (c) drying the suspension of drug nanoparticles containing the excipient therein to remove solvent therefrom, wherein removal of the solvent causes the excipient to solidify and thereby form micro-sized matrix particles, each micro-sized particle being comprised of drug nanoparticles dispersed in a solid matrix of the excipient.

A stairlift comprises a carriage for movement along a fixed rail the angle of inclination of which varies along its length. A seat is pivotally mounted to the carriage and an actuating device is used for turning the seat relative to the carriage. A control device of the stairlift responds to the position of the carriage along its rail and the stored data representing the desired angle between the seat and carriage at different positions along the rail, to control the actuating device so as to maintain the seat substantially level as the carriage moves along the rail.

Substrates and arrays that can be used for biological analysis with particle beam instruments are provided. In one embodiment, a substrate for an array is constructed and arranged to be used for imaging samples with a particle beam instrument such as a transmission electron microscope. The substrate can include one or more ligands (e.g., nucleic acids, polypeptides, oligosaccharides, and synthetic polymers) which may form an array. Corresponding changes in labeling chemistry can allow for ligands, binding partners and other relevant materials to be identifiable, quantitatable, and even sequenceable via modified forms of electron microscopy. In certain embodiments, the array dimensions are on the order of nanometers per functional region rather than micrometers as in certain conventional arrays. With these dimensions, smaller amounts of sample material can be used and more accurate genetic analyses performed. These smaller substrate dimensions may also give rise to dramatically reduced production costs, amongst other advantages. The transparency of the substrate, due to thinness, material type and other factors, may provide a suitable contrast ratio of the labeled molecules against the substrate that result in higher quality readings and lower cost analysis than some conventional techniques.

A wrapping machine comprises a tube former for a forming a web of wrapping material into a tube with a longitudinal seal, a variable speed feeding mechanism for feeding the web continuously to the tube former, an infeed conveyor for feeding articles in succession into the tube former so that they become entubed in the tube of wrapping material, and crimping dies situated beyond the tube former which are operative to form transverse seals in the tube of wrapping material between the articles. The machine includes an adjustable modulating device for matching the speed of movement of the dies to substantially the speed of advance of the tube during formation of the transverse seals. An adjustable control mechanism is provided for so controlling the dies that they will form, by appropriate adjustment, transverse seals at either every revolution, during alternate revolutions only, or during every 3rd, 4th . . . or nth revolutions of a constant speed driving shaft.
