Abstract:
A simple, inexpensive and non-corrosive industrial separation method making it possible to separate zirconium and hafnium tetrachlorides from mixtures thereof, a simple industrial method allowing the zirconium/hafnium separation, and a method making it possible to produce fractions enriched with zirconium and containing hafnium at a trace level are disclosed.
Abstract:
Novel group 4 organometallic compounds, supported on anions by means of at least one covalent metal-oxygen bond, are obtained by reaction of at least one borate or aluminum comprising at least one hydroxy group with at least one group 4 transition metal compound. These compounds are used in a catalytic composition implemented in an olefin oligomerization or polymerization method.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the manufacture of nitrile compounds from unsaturated organic compounds by reaction with hydrogen cyanide. It relates more particularly to the manufacture of nitrile compounds of use in the synthesis of adiponitrile, an important chemical intermediate in the manufacture of major chemical compounds, such as hexamethylenediamine and ε-caprolactam. The invention provides a process for the manufacture of organic compounds comprising at least one nitrile functional group by carrying out a hydrocyanation reaction between hydrogen cyanide and an organic compound comprising at least one ethylenic unsaturation. This reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalytic system comprising a metal element chosen from the group consisting of nickel, platinum and palladium and an organophosphorus ligand, the reaction medium additionally comprising an ionic liquid in the liquid state at least at the temperature at which the hydrocyanation reaction is carried out.

A novel catalytic composition comprises at least one quaternary ammonium and/or phosphonium salt in which the anion is selected from the group formed by tetrafluoroborate, tetrachloroborate, hexafluorophosphate, hexafluoroantimonate, hexafluoroarsenate, trifluorosulphonate, fluorosulphonate, tetrachloroaluminate, dichlorocuprate, and trichlorozincate, and at least one complex of a transition metal from groups 8, 9 and 10, i.e., iron, ruthenium, cobalt, rhodium iridium, nickel, palladium and platinum. Application to total or selective hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds such as monoolefins, diolefins, acetylenic compounds, aromatic compounds, polynuclear aromatic compounds. Hydrogenation may be accompanied by isomerisation.
Abstract:
A catalyst containing a porous organic or mineral support and at least one active phase having at least one aluminum halide, at least one compound selected for quaternary ammonium halides and amine hydrohalides, and at least one cuprous compound, the support having been impregnated with the active phase, the catalyst essentially constituted by particles with an average diameter in the range 0.1 .mu.m to 150 .mu.m, and the support, before impregnation with the active phase, has a total pore volume in the range 0.1 cm.sup.3 /g and 6 cm.sup.3 /g.
Abstract:
This pressure compensating device for a volume of immersed gas is equipped with mobile or deformable walls and includes an immersed compensation bladder. The bladder is secured in a housing and communicates with the volume to be compensated. It is arranged by mounting means roughly at the level of the volume. According to the invention, the housing mounting means for the compensation bladder are arranged to allow the housing to move vertically relative to the gas volume so as to keep the mean front of the bladder folds at the level of the surfaces to be compensated, as the volume may be immersed to different depths. The housing mounting means include an arm hinged about a horizontal axis, and a spring exerting its force on a cable connected to the hinged arm.Depending on the preferred application, the mobile walls enclosing volume to be compensated consist of the acoustic drives of underwater electroacoustic transducers.
Abstract:
A process for producing organolanthanides by reaction of a rare-earth metal with an unsaturated compound in an ether medium, the resultant compounds and the use of these compounds in organic synthesis and for catalysis is disclosed. The process is conducted at -80.degree. to +100.degree. C., in the absence of oxygen and any compound having active protons. The resultant compounds are useful as catalysts, e.g., in the hydrogenation of olefins and diolefins and in the polymerization thereof, and are useful as chemical intermediates.
Abstract:
The invention has as an object a process for methanol synthesis from carbon oxides and hydrogen, performed in an inert liquid medium, in the presence of a catalyst system soluble in the liquid medium. The catalyst system used according to the invention is obtained by reacting a copper compound, optionally associated with a divalent zinc compound and/or a rare earth compound, with a zinc reducing compound.
Abstract:
A catalyst composition is manufactured by admixing a hydrocarbyl aluminum halide of a nickel compound of the formula (R.sub.1 COO)(R.sub.2 COO)Ni, where R.sub.1 is hydrocarbyl with at least 5 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 is haloalkyl of 1-3 carbon atoms. Olefins such as ethylene, propylene and butenes can be oligomerized, for example, dimerized and trimerized, with the above catalyst composition.
