    摘要： An apparatus is provided that easily realizes a video recording and playback according to a taste of the user based on summary information prepared from voice/video information of TV broadcast programs. For this purpose, a seek bar is provided which, based on the summary playback information generated by the summary information generation unit for summary playback, distinguishes the time bands to be played back from the time bands to be skipped by displaying them in different colors. Also a control unit is provided which allows for changing the summary playback time and for selecting between the playback enable and disable.

    摘要： In a thumbnail screen, categories and category thumbnails are disposed and displayed in the depth (Z-axis) direction and in the horizontal (X axis) direction, respectively. When focus is given by a focus to any of upper and lower category thumbnails, which are displayed on the most front side, and a category name display part, the row (layers) of the thumbnails scrolls in the horizontal direction. When the right and left direction keys of a remote controller are operated while the category name display has focus, the scroll in the depth direction is performed, thus enabling the specification of a desired category. This three-dimensionally displays the thumbnails and facilitates the operation for viewing information.

In the method, a character string of program information is converted into a voice and the voice is output. When an item in specified program information is converted into a voice for reading aloud or when the program information exceeding a display zone is displayed, a letter at the end of the last character string of the program information is replaced with another letter indicative of ‘to be continued’ of the information to partially display the program information, and voice output is carried out by reading aloud all the program information. When a broadcast symbol is included in the program information, the broadcast symbol is removed, or converted into a character string meaning the broadcast symbol, and the character string is vocally output.
