Abstract:
Fraction collector dispensers and methods of using such dispensers are provided. In one embodiment, the dispenser includes an inlet for receiving liquid from a liquid source, wherein the inlet is in fluid communication with an outlet from which liquid is dispensed into a receptacle; and a reservoir in fluid communication with a flow path between the inlet and outlet, wherein the reservoir comprises trapped air therein and is configured to receive liquid during movement of the dispenser between receptacles or during movement of receptacles between dispense positions, wherein the dispenser is moveable between a first receptacle and a second receptacle or the receptacles are moveable between dispense positions.
Abstract:
A tip for use in an optical detection system to analyze an analyte in a fluid sample drawn into the tip, using light reflected from a detection surface inside the tip that the analyte binds to, comprising a first detection surface and a second detection surface located in a same flow path with no controllable valve separating them, wherein the first and second detection surfaces have different surface chemistries.
Abstract:
Horizontal gel electrophoresis devices and methods of extracting a gel from a gel housing are provided. The devices allow for extraction of gels without having to open the housing comprising the gel. The devices include gel cassettes that simplify the automation of gel electrophoresis and electroblotting of proteins. Also provided are devices that allow for horizontal gel electrophoresis without the need to from a liquid seal between the buffer reservoir and the gel housing. Also described are methods for extracting a gel from a housing without opening the housing.
Abstract:
Provided herein are imaging cassettes for detecting a luminescent and/or radioactive signals. Such cassettes are useful in common biological assays, e.g., immunoassays, nucleotide detection assays, and other affinity assays.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is notably directed to a microfluidic probe head (202), or MFP head, comprising a processing surface (204) having liquid injection and liquid aspiration apertures, as well as projections (205) extending from the processing surface (204). The arrangement of injection and aspiration apertures provides for a hydrodynamic flow confinement within a processing region that is formed between the processing surface (204) and a substrate (104) or sample surface (for example, the bottom of a microtiter plate sample well (102)), typically located beneath the processing surface (204). The disclosure is further directed to related microfluidic probe devices, and methods of operation of such an MFP head, notably to deposit cells on a surface.

Abstract:
An instrument for detecting signal from a biological sample includes a pipettor module configured to hold a plurality of pipettes in respective pipette positions, to hold liquid in one or more pipette tips, and to pipette liquid in and out of the one or more pipette tips. Each of the one or more pipette tips has a pipette tip point. The instrument further includes one or more magnets positioned such that each of the one or more pipette tips is adjacent one of the one or more magnets.
Abstract:
Devices, systems, methods, and kits for contact imaging are provided. A contact imaging device includes an imaging sensor, a fixed fiber faceplate mechanically coupled to the imaging sensor, and an optical filtering layer mechanically coupled to the fixed fiber faceplate. The optical filtering layer can include an interference filter, an absorptive filter, and/or a removable fiber faceplate. The contact imaging device can be used to image fluorescent samples by filtering out excitation light on the basis of wavelength and/or angle of incidence.
