A method of polishing and cleaning a glass surface with a single abrasive article. The abrasive article includes ceria abrasive particles dispersed in binder, the abrasive article having a textured, three-dimensional abrasive coating. The method includes contacting the glass surface with the abrasive article at a desired pressure and in the presence of water, and moving the abrasive article and glass in relation to each other under pressure. The water is believed to mediate a chemical reaction involving the ceria and the glass, thereby leaving a haze on the glass surface. With continued motion of the abrasive article in relation to the glass workpiece, without the addition of additional water, the haze is removed.

The growth of a phosphor layer deposited on a patterned substrate containing a multiplicity of recessed ridges of triangular cross section can be controlled by tailoring the geometry of the recessed ridge structures. During the deposition process, little or no phosphor deposition occurs on the recessed ridge structures, and cracks are formed which separate the otherwise uniformly growing phosphor which is present in other regions of the patterned substrate where more substantial phosphor deposition occurs.

The release liners of the present invention offer superior release to a wide variety of materials without the application of release agents, have relatively high heat distortion temperatures, and are unaffected by radiation sources used to cure most polymeric compositions. The release liners of the present invention can be microreplicated with a pattern which can be transferred to coatings and other impressionable materials to impart unique physical or optical properties. Thus, a method of producing a patterned article is also provided, as is a method of producing a solid object from a curable composition.

An article including multi-component fibers and particles is disclosed. The multi-component fibers include at least a first polymeric composition and a second polymeric composition, are adhered together, and are non-fusing at a temperature of at least 110° C. At least a portion of the external surfaces of the multi-component fibers includes the first polymeric composition. Particles are adhered or directly attached to the first polymeric composition on the external surfaces of at least some of the multi-component fibers along their lengths. The particles include at least one of activated carbon, superabsorbent polymer particles, and abrasive particles. In some embodiments, the particles are distributed throughout the thickness of a web of the multi-component fibers. A method of making the articles is also disclosed.
