In one embodiment of the present invention, an optical disc drive is comprised of one or more substrates having a width smaller than the diameter of an optical disc and that covers and protects one or more data recording surfaces of the optical disc. The optical disc drive may also include an external connector that is capable of plugging into an outlet of an electrical device so that the optical disc drive extends beyond an external sidewall of the electrical device and is electronically interconnected to the electrical device.

    摘要: A volumetric fluid dispensing device can include a fluid reservoir having at least one flexible wall and a dispensing reservoir oriented above the fluid reservoir. The dispensing reservoir can have an overflow return fluidly connected to the fluid reservoir such that the dispensing reservoir holds a measured volume of fluid. A reservoir conduit can be fluidly connected to the fluid reservoir and the dispensing reservoir to allow excess fluid to return from the overflow to the fluid reservoir. A dispensing conduit can also be fluidly connected to the dispensing reservoir to allow fluid to exit the dispensing reservoir. A mechanical wall actuator can be operatively associated with the walls for controllably flexing at least a portion of the walls sufficient to force fluid from the fluid reservoir to the dispensing reservoir via the reservoir conduit.

    摘要: This technique for assembling a print head for an LED printer has LED dice first assembled into precisely known locations on mounting tiles. A portion of the front face of each tile is left exposed beyond anything mounted on the tile. The tiles are then assembled with these exposed areas on a planar reference on an assembly fixture. Reference surfaces built into the fixture align the edges of the tiles, and hence the LED dice. Finally a mother plate is adhesively bonded onto the backs of the tiles. The adhesive accommodates thickness variations in the mounting tiles, and lack of flatness in the back surfaces of the tiles and the front face of the mother plate. Reference tiles coplanar with the reference plane formed by the front faces of the mounting tiles provide a z axis reference.
