摘要: A multi-layer and method of making the same are provided. The multi-layer, such as a sensor, can include a high strength glass overlay and a lamination layer on a substrate layer. The overlay can be less than 250 micrometers thick and have at least one tempered surface incorporating a surface compression layer of at least 5 micrometers deep and a surface compressive stress of at least 200 MPa. The overlay can exhibit a puncture factor of at least 3000 N/μm2 at B10 (10th percentile of the probability distribution of failure) in a multi-layer structure, an apparent thickness of less than 0.014 mm, and a pencil hardness greater than 6H. The method can include ion-exchange tempering at least one major surface of a glass sheet, light etching the major surface to remove flaws and laminating the glass sheet on the tempered and lightly etched major surface to a substrate layer.

摘要: Glass substrate assemblies having low dielectric properties, electronic assemblies incorporating glass substrate assemblies, and methods of fabricating glass substrate assemblies are disclosed. In one embodiment, a substrate assembly includes a glass layer 110 having a first surface and a second surface, and a thickness of less than about 300 μm. The substrate assembly further includes a dielectric layer 120 disposed on at least one of the first surface or the second surface of the glass layer. The dielectric layer has a dielectric constant value of less than about 3.0 in response to electromagnetic radiation having a frequency of 10 GHz. In some embodiments, the glass layer is made of annealed glass such that the glass layer has a dielectric constant value of less than about 5.0 and a dissipation factor value of less than about 0.003 in response to electromagnetic radiation having a frequency of 10 GHz. An electrically conductive layer 142 is disposed on a surface of the dielectric layer, within the dielectric layer or under the dielectric layer.

摘要: Polymer-based portions comprise an index of refraction ranging from about 1.49 to about 1.55. In some embodiments, the polymer-based portion comprises the product of curing 45-75 wt % of a difunctional urethane-acrylate oligomer with 25-55 wt % of a difunctional cross-linking agent and optionally a reactive diluent. In some embodiments, the polymer-based portion comprises the product of curing 75-100 wt % of a reactive diluent and optionally one or more a difunctional urethane-acrylate oligomer and/or a difunctional cross-linking agent. Adhesives comprise an index of refraction ranging from about 1.49 to about 1.55. In some embodiments, the adhesive comprises the product of heating 10-35 wt % of a silane-hydride-terminated siloxane and 65-90 wt % of a vinyl-terminated siloxane. In some embodiments, the adhesive comprises the product of irradiating a thiol-containing siloxane and a photo-initiator with at least one wavelength of light that the photo-initiator is sensitive to. Foldable apparatus can comprise the polymer-based portion and/or adhesive.

The chemically strengthened glass substrate comprises a first compressive stress layer having a first depth of layer, and a second compressive stress layer having a second depth of layer, the first and second stress layers being separated by a layer of tensile stress. A laminated article comprising the chemically strengthened glass substrate is also described.

摘要: Described herein are laminate structures with enhanced sound-damping properties and mechanical properties. The laminates are composed of an interlayer structure disposed between a first glass substrate and a second glass substrate, wherein the interlayer is composed of a polymer layer designed such that sound attenuation or damping by the laminate is optimized. The laminates described herein may be used in vehicles or architectural panels. In one or more embodiments, the laminate may be disposed in an opening of a vehicle body. Where the vehicle body is an automobile, the laminate could be used as a windshield, a side window, sunroof or rear windshield. The body of some embodiments may include railcar body, or an airplane body. In other embodiments, the laminate may be used in architectural panels, which may include a window, an interior wall panel, a modular furniture panel, a backsplash, a cabinet panel, or an appliance panel.

摘要: A method for making an antimicrobial composite film can include forming a first coating layer by applying a first coating material on a substrate and forming a second coating layer by applying a second coating material on the first coating layer. The first coating material can comprise a first resin. The second coating material can comprise an antimicrobial material in a second resin or a dispersion. The first coating material can have a lower concentration of the antimicrobial material than the second coating material. The first and second coating layers can cooperatively define a composite film. The antimicrobial material can be asymmetrically dispersed in the composite film such that the antimicrobial material is concentrated closer to the outer surface of the composite film than to the inner surface of the composite film.
