Provided is a boron nitride sintered body in which an average number of lump particles having a particle size of 30 μm or more formed by aggregation of primary particles of boron nitride is 3 or less in a cross-sectional image including 100 or more particles observed at a magnification of 500 times with a scanning electron microscope. A method of manufacturing a boron nitride sintered body includes a nitriding step of sintering a raw material powder containing boron carbide in a nitrogen-containing atmosphere to obtain a fired product containing boron carbonitride, a pulverizing step of pulverizing the fired product to obtain a boron carbonitride powder having a specific surface area of 12 m2/g or more, and a firing step of molding and heating a blend containing the boron carbonitride powder and a sintering aid to obtain a boron nitride sintered body.

One aspect of the present disclosure is a method for evaluating adhesiveness performance and heat radiation performance of a composite including a porous sintered ceramic component and a semi-cured product of a resin filled into pores of the sintered ceramic component, including a step of emitting ultraviolet rays to the surface of the semi-cured product of the composite; a step of measuring an emission intensity of fluorescence generated from the semi-cured product; and a step of evaluating adhesiveness performance and heat radiation performance of the composite using the value of the emission intensity.

Provided is a method for manufacturing a boron nitride sintered body, the method including: a nitriding step of firing a raw material powder containing boron carbide in an atmosphere containing nitrogen to obtain a fired product including lump particles each having a core part with primary particles of boron carbonitride aggregated and a shell part surrounding the core part; and a firing step of molding and heating a blend containing the fired product including lump particles and a sintering aid to obtain the boron nitride sintered body having a porous structure and including lump particles of boron nitride.

A boron nitride/resin composite circuit board, including: a plate-shaped resin-impregnated boron nitride sintered body having a plate thickness of 0.2 to 1.5 mm, the plate-shaped resin-impregnated boron nitride sintered body including 30 to 85 volume % of a boron nitride sintered body having boron nitride particles bonded three-dimensionally, the boron nitride particles having an average long diameter of 5 to 50 μm, and 70 to 15 volume % of a resin; and a metal circuit adhered onto both principal planes of the plate-shaped resin-impregnated boron nitride sintered body, the metal circuit being copper or aluminum, wherein: a ratio of a linear thermal expansion coefficient in a plane direction of the resin-impregnated boron nitride sintered body at 40 to 150° C.
