    摘要: The invention is a composition comprising: a) one or more film forming resins having at least one functional group capable of polymerization; b) one or more reactive diluents capable of reacting with the film forming resin; c) one or more silicon, titanium, zirconium, aluminum or metal containing compounds capable of promoting adhesion of the composition to glass; d) one or more fillers capable of imparting abrasion resistance to the composition when cured; and e) one or more compounds which is reactive with the film forming resin which also contains at least one acidic moiety. The composition of the invention is useful as a frit on the window of a vehicle. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for applying the coatings to glass and a method for bonding the coated glass to a structure or substrate, for instance, a building.

The process includes the steps of directing light (11) onto the window (10) to illuminate a portion (13) of the window and then applying an adhesion primer along the illuminated portion of the window. If the adhesion primer contains a component that evaporates, then the process can further include the step of forming an infrared image (19) of the window as the component evaporates to indicate the area of application (20) of the adhesion primer. If the adhesion primer contains a component that fluoresces when illuminated by ultraviolet light, then the process can further include the step of illuminating the window with ultraviolet light (22) to indicate the area of application (23) of the adhesion primer.

    摘要: The invention is an adhesive composition comprising a) i) a trialkoxysilane functional polyether or polyurethane wherein the polyether or polyurethane has a weight average molecular weight of 6000 or greater and a dialkyltin carboxylate or dialkyltin alcoholate; or ii) a dialkoxysilane functional polyether or polyurethane and a dialkyltin alcoholate; and b) a primary or secondary amino straight chain alkyl trialkoxysilane; wherein the dialkyltin carboxylate or dialkyltin alcoholate is present in an effective amount to facilitate bonding of the adhesive to a substrate of from about 0.1 to about 1.0 percent by weight based on the weight of the adhesive and the primary or secondary amino straight chained alkyl trialkoxysilane is present in an amount which is effective to facilitate bonding of the adhesive to a substrate wherein the amount is from about 0.5 to about 1.2 percent by weight. In another embodiment, the invention is a method of bonding a window in a vehicle. The process comprises applying to a window or a window frame of a structure an adhesive according to the invention; contacting the window with the window frame of a substrate wherein the adhesive is located between the window and the substrate; and allowing the adhesive to cure. This process is especially useful when the substrate is unprimed metal, plastic, fiberglass or a composite, optionally coated with a coating. In another embodiment it is useful when the window is unprimed.

    摘要: In one aspect, this invention is a polyurethane sealant composition comprising (1) a urethane prepolymer having an isocyanate functionality of at least about 2.0 and a weight average molecular weight of at least about 2,000; and (2) a catalytic amount of (a) a substantially active hydrogen free glycol acid salt of a tertiary amine and an organo metallic compound, (b) a mixture of a substantially active hydrogen free glycol acid salt of a tertiary amine and an organo metallic compound and a second organometallic compound, or (c) a mixture of an organometallic compound with dimorpholinodialkyl ether or an dialkylmorpholinodialkyl ether. In another embodiment, the polyurethane sealant composition further comprises (A) a silane, or (B) an adduct of an isocyanate reactive silane and a polyisocyanate, (C) the reaction product of an isocyanate reactive silane or an adduct of an isocyanate reactive silane and a polyisocyanate with a polyisocyanate and an active hydrogen containing compound or a polyurethane prepolymer which has free isocyanate moieties; which reaction product has an average of at least one silane group and at least one isocyanate group per molecule. In another embodiment the invention is a method for bonding glass to a substrate which comprises contacting a sealant according to the invention with glass and another substrate with the sealant disposed between the glass and substrate and thereafter allowing the sealant to cure so as to bind the glass to the substrate. The sealant composition of the invention is useful in bonding glass substrates to metal plastic, fiberglass or composite substrates, which may or may not be painted. It has been discovered to give unexpectedly high lap shear strength when no primer compositions have previously been applied to the painted plastic, metal, fiberglass or composite substrate.
