The output device may process the received digital content and render the processed digital content onto a display medium.
Abstract:
Anonymous voice communication between a first station and a second station is facilitated by providing an interface that allows input of a transaction specification from at least one of the first and second stations. A reference code associated with the transaction is generated, there being a defined relationship between the reference code and the address of the second station for voice communication. The reference code is supplied to the first station, and a voice communication request and the reference code are received from the first station. The reference code is used to recover said address and a channel for voice communication is opened between said first and second stations. Voice communication can thereby be established between the first and second stations without providing the address of the second station to the first station. Client (e.g., a device, a station, or an application) for accessing an Internet-based service that data mines user information is herein disclosed and enabled. The service may facilitate a user of the client connecting to other users over the Internet. Data obtained from each transaction submitted through the service are data mined. The collected or obtained data may include private data, interests, intellectual property, and the like. The client may (1) provide, to the user, a proposed transaction specifying a transaction between the user and another user, which is based, at least in part, on data mining the user's history of transactions; (2) provide a reference code to the user related to the proposed transaction; and (3) receive a communication request from the user employing the reference code. The reference code may include text, image(s), video(s), audio, or communication link(s), and the proposed transaction may include an advertisement.
Abstract:
An information apparatus that supports a touch sensitive screen for managing e-mails is disclosed and enabled. The information apparatus may include a graphical user interface, an e-mail application, an Internet browsing application, and applications for playing audio/video content. The information apparatus includes an operating system software and support for installation of new applications. In one example, a user of the information apparatus may reply to an e-mail by selecting an item over the touch sensitive screen. The user may scroll down or up an email using the touch sensitive screen. In other examples, the user may further select an item or functional control via the touch sensitive screen to output, synchronize, stream, transmit, play, print, display, or mirror at least part of digital content from the information apparatus to one or more output devices over air.
Abstract:
A method for establishing a wireless connection between a mobile information apparatus (e.g., smart phone) and an output system (e.g., audio output device) are herein disclosed and enabled. The method comprises using an interface of the output system to receive an indication from a user, and initiating wireless discovery based, at least in part, on physical proximity between the mobile information apparatus and the output system, subsequent to receiving the user indication. The method additionally comprises using the mobile information apparatus to wirelessly (1) discover the output system, (2) establish a wireless communication link between the mobile information apparatus and the output system, and (3) transmit audio output data from the mobile information apparatus to the output system over the established wireless communication link. Subsequently, the output system outputs or plays at least part of the wireles sly received audio output data from the mobile information apparatus.
Abstract:
Wireless devices that establish a wireless connection with a mobile device (e.g., smart phone) by wirelessly detecting the mobile device within a physical proximity, are herein disclosed and enabled. To set up a wireless device (e.g., Bluetooth devices, audio output devices, television controllers, Internet appliances, digital cameras, etc.) for connecting with a smart phone, the wireless device and the smart phone are simply placed within physical proximity of each other for short range wireless detection. During the wireless detection, the smart phone and the wireless device may exchange, transmit, or receive device or security information to facilitate future wireless connections. Subsequent to the short range wireless detection, the wireless device and the smart phone are connected or locked for future wireless communications (e.g., Bluetooth or IEEE802.11), and future wireless connections between the wireless device and the smart phone can be established without having to repeat the short range wireless detection.
Abstract:
Internet based digital content services as well as mobile client devices for accessing the Internet are herein disclosed and enabled. In one example, user digital content, such as documents, audio, or video content, may be uploaded to a content server for storing. The user may share the user digital content with other client devices or users having appropriate authentication or security procedures. A user play list or rendering list may include a list of pointers or references to digital content. The stored user play list or the stored user digital content may be further edited, stored, or shared subsequently for access and rendering. The Internet services are accessible by smart devices, such as smart phones, information pads, TVs, audio output devices, and printers. The smart devices that access the Internet services may require client software for accessing the Internet service.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device configured to receive voice activated commands to output digital content is disclosed and enabled. The portable electronic device includes wireless communication circuitry for searching output devices; displaying, on the touch screen display or interfacing with user over voice, a list identifying one or more output devices found by the searching; receiving input supplied to the touch screen display or via voice for selecting a selected output device; and subsequently receiving a voice activated command to output digital content to the selected output device; configuring an output data stream using, at least in part, the digital content; and wirelessly transmitting, via the wireless communication circuitry, at least part of the configured output data stream to the selected output device. The output device may be a display device, a television, a printer, an audio device, or an external controller connectable to a television.
Abstract:
Output devices or systems, such as televisions, speakers, projectors, or output controllers, are herein disclosed and enabled for wirelessly receiving digital content from a digital content service or from an information apparatus. The disclosed output device includes wireless communication circuitry and an interface. To set up the output device for receiving and playing the digital content, the output device first receives, via the interface, security information, and then establishes a wireless local area network connection. Subsequent to having established the wireless local area network connection, the output device connects to a server over a network, using the wireless communication circuitry, for downloading and installing software applications or components for upgrading or modifying capabilities of the output device. Thereafter, the output device is setup for receiving the digital content from the information apparatus and from the digital content service using the downloaded and installed software applications or components.
Abstract:
