The present invention relates to a catalytic formulation used in the hydroprocessing of light and middle oil fractions, preferably in hydrodesulfurization and hydrodenitrogenation reactions to obtain diesel with ultra low sulfur content less than or equal to 15 ppm in weight. The catalytic formulation, object of the present invention, consists of at least one metal of Group VI B and at least one metal of Group VIII B and one element of Group V A of the periodic table deposited on a support based on surface modified alumina with an inorganic oxide of a metal of Group II A, IV A and/or IV B. And containing an impregnated organic compound containing at least one hydroxyl group and at least one carboxyl group and that can contain or not at least one sulfide group in its structure. The catalytic formulation, object of the present invention, allows processing of the oil fractions with initial and final boiling temperatures between 150 and 450° C., with initial nitrogen and sulfur content between 1 and 3% by weight and 200 to 600 ppm, respectively, reducing sulfur content to concentrations lower or equal to 15 ppm and nitrogen concentrations to lower than 1 ppm.

A chemical synthesis process is provided for the functionalization of monodispersed triblock copolymer (POEw-POPy-POEw) with secondary or tertiary amines at a semi-industrial level in glass reactors having a capacity between 1 L and 100 L. The process includes two stages where the first stage uses an alkylsulfonyl or arylsulfonyl chloride to obtain better leaving groups, and the second stage is the nucleophilic substitution with secondary or tertiary amines, to obtain the bifunctionalized triblock copolymers. The main advantage for this process is to reduce the quantity of unitary process done in each stage, the optimization of reaction times, and the stoichiometric relationships.

Compositions consisting of block copolymers α,ω-di-aryl or alkyl sulfonates of poly(ethylene oxide)w-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide)w of bis-ammonium and block copolymers α,ω-di-amine of poly(ethylene oxide)w-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide)w, are provided that are effective in the dewatering and desalting crude oils whose specific gravities are within the range of 14 to 20° API. A method of dewatering and desalting heavy crude oil adds a mixture of the copolymer bifunctionalized with an aliphatic or aromatic secondary amine and a copolymer bifunctionalized with an aliphatic or aromatic tertiary amine.

A method of demulsifying, dehydrating, and desalting crude oils having API gravity ranging between 8 to 30 admixes the formulation with the crude oil in an amount effective to demulsify, dehydrate and/or desalt the crude oils.
