摘要: Regeneration of a diesel particle filter of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle is controlled according to soot mass loading and the vehicle operating condition. Regeneration modes include active regeneration and forced passive regeneration, and operating conditions include highway, town and off-road driving. One strategy may determine initiation of regeneration, and another may determine cessation. Regeneration mode may change in real time.

摘要: The exhaust system of an internal combustion engine is periodically dosed to recharge an SCR catalyst with ammonia. If dosing is scheduled and exhaust gas temperature is too low to ensure recharging, a forced increase in exhaust gas temperature is effected for the period of dosing. A diagnostic to confirm correct operation of a catalytic converter may advantageously run at the same time.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of controlling a vehicle powertrain including determining that a performance feature associated with the powertrain is outside of a desired performance range. A plurality of operation parameters that are associated with the powertrain are identified that have a relationship to the performance feature. An adjustment is automatically made to at least one of the identified operation parameters to thereby bring the performance feature closer to the desired performance range. Preferably, the relationship comprises a mathematical model that corresponds to how the operation parameters influence whether the performance feature is within the desired performance range, the method further comprising identifying an actuator failure associated with the powertrain; determining at least one of the operation parameters corresponding to the actuator failure; determining a value of the corresponding operation parameter that is indicative of the actuator failure; and using the determined value as a fixed value for the corresponding operation parameter in the mathematical model.

摘要: An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine (28) for controlling the release of undesirable emissions from the engine comprises an exhaust pipe (32) for receiving an exhaust flow from the engine, an SCR catalyst (48) arranged in the exhaust flow and means (80) for determining the temperature of the SCR catalyst. A NOx absorber (38), such as a diesel oxidation and NOx absorber catalyst (DONAC), is located in the exhaust flow at a position upstream of the SCR catalyst (48) for absorbing and releasing NOx contained in the exhaust flow. Means is provided for controlling the NOx absorber (38) so as to control the release of NOx to the SCR catalyst (48) in dependence on the temperature of the SCR catalyst, thereby to effect active management of release of NOx from the DONAC (38).

摘要: The invention relates to an adaptive powertrain control for realizing an enhanced or optimized performance of one or more vehicle features. By monitoring vehicle performance, dynamic adjustments can be made to various vehicle operation parameters to enhance a feature of vehicle performance, such as fuel economy. A method (40) of controlling a vehicle powertrain includes monitoring vehicle performance (42) and determining whether at least one of a plurality of vehicle performance features may be enhanced (44). A plurality of operation parameters that are associated with the powertrain are identified that have a relationship to the at least one performance feature (46). An adjustment is automatically made to at least one of the identified operation parameters to thereby enhance at least one aspect of the at least one performance feature (48). The performance feature may comprise fuel economy or urea consumption.

摘要: Apparatus (100) for controlling an aftertreatment system of an internal combustion engine (101), a system comprising an apparatus, a vehicle comprising a system and a method (1000) of controlling injection in an internal combustion engine (101) are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a processing means (102) configured to receive a first signal from a first temperature sensing means (103) indicative of a first temperature of exhaust gases outputted from an internal combustion engine (101) at a first location upstream of a first exhaust system component (104) configured to provide a passage for exhaust gases. The processing means is also configured to receive a second signal from a flow rate sensing means (105) indicative of a flow rate of the exhaust gases outputted from the engine (101) and calculate an approximated value at least from the first signal and the second signal. The approximated value is indicative of a second temperature of exhaust gases at a location downstream of the first exhaust system component (104). The processing means is further configured to provide an output signal to control the after treatment system, in dependence of the calculated approximated value.

摘要: An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine (28) for controlling the release of undesirable emissions from the engine comprises an exhaust pipe (32) for receiving an exhaust flow from the engine, an SCR catalyst (48) arranged in the exhaust flow and means (80) for determining the temperature of the SCR catalyst. A NOx absorber (38), such as a diesel oxidation and NOx absorber catalyst (DONAC), is located in the exhaust flow at a position upstream of the SCR catalyst (48) for absorbing and releasing NOx contained in the exhaust flow. Means is provided for controlling the NOx absorber (38) so as to control the release of NOx to the SCR catalyst (48) in dependence on the temperature of the SCR catalyst, thereby to effect active management of release of NOx from the DONAC (38).
