    摘要: An aerial spray system can be attached to the undersurface of a helicopter for spraying ground level targets while the helicopter is hovering or in level flight. A television camera can be located in near proximity to the spray nozzles for electronically delivering a picture of the ground level condition to a television monitor in the helicopter, such that the technician is better enabled to aim the spray nozzles or target a specific ground level area. The aerial system can be used for riot control, or crop spraying, or forest fire containment.

    摘要: This invention relates to an airconditioning system which uses a plurality of absorption chiller-cells, for refrigerating an antifreeze fluid that is circulated through fan-coil units of an airconditioning system. The anti-freeze fluid passes through refrigerant evaporators in each cell structure in a consecutive order for lowering the temperature of the antifreeze fluid gradually. More particularly, it relates to an absorption chiller-cell system having a plurality of evaporators employing multi-refrigerant circulation circuits in an absorption cycle to produce sufficient refrigerant for the airconditioning system. The invention enables the physical size of the system to be relatively small, so that the system can replace conventional electric airconditioning units for home applications. In further aspects, this invention provides an airconditioning system which includes a plurality of absorption chiller-cells that produce various kinds of capacity of the system by combining more or less numbers of chiller-cells, the invention provides also an easier and simpler solution for maintenance or replacement of chiller-cells.

    摘要: A scanning probe microscope has a tilting stage on which a sample is mounted. The sample is scanned back and forth with the stage being tilted clockwise during a forward scan and counterclockwise during a reverse scan. A first surface contour of the sample is determined from the response of the probe and the tilt angle of the stage during the forward scan. A second surface contour of the sample is determined from the response of the probe and the tilt angle of the stage during the reverse scan. A final surface contour of the sample is obtained by combining the first and second surface contours.

    摘要: A microfluidic switching device includes a planar substrate having a central axis of rotation and a radially-oriented microchannel disposed in the planar substrate that terminates at a junction. In one aspect, the junction is formed as a double-layered junction in which an upstream portion is vertically offset from a downstream portion. In addition, the upstream portion has a smaller effective center of cross-sectional area than the downstream portion. First and rotation second outlet chambers are coupled at one end to the junction. The device is rotated about the central axis in a clockwise direction so as to cause the fluid in the reservoir to flow into the first (right) outlet chamber or in a counter-clockwise direction so as to cause the fluid in the reservoir to flow into the second (left) outlet chamber.

    摘要: A microfluidic device for the splitting or sequencing of fluid flow includes a plurality of upstream and/or downstream chambers coupled via microfluidic channels. For splitting fluid, a substrate is provided that includes a main chamber and a plurality of downstream sub-chambers. Each sub-chamber is associated with a sealable vent hole. Fluid is selectively moved into the desired sub-chamber of interest by unsealing its associated vent hole. Fluid is then pumped into the sub-chamber, for example, by rotating the substrate. For flow sequencing, a substrate is provided that includes a plurality of upstream chambers coupled to at least one downstream chamber. Each upstream chamber has an associated vent hole that can be selectively opened. The substrate is then rotated and fluid contained in the upstream chamber with the valve in the unsealed state will then pass to the at least one downstream chamber.
