    摘要: A deflection-limiting clevis includes a substantially cylindrical base with a pair of clevis arms extending therefrom, a clevis axle extending between distal ends of the clevis arms and a pair of stops located on interior portions of the clevis arms between the base and the axle. The stops are dimensioned and located to engage respective tangs of a pair of jaws, which are mounted on the axle, when the jaws are deflected across the center line of the clevis. A first embodiment of the clevis may be used with or without a conventional flat needle between the jaws. In a second embodiment of the clevis, a cross member is located between the clevis arms proximal of the clevis axle and distal of the cylindrical base. The cross member may be used to engage the proximal end of a shortened flat needle which is mounted between the jaws and is also used to engage the tangs of the jaws when the jaws are rotated about the axle to a point of deflection. A third embodiment of the invention combines aspects of the first and second embodiments and includes both a pair of stops located on interior portions of the clevis arms between the base and the axle and a cross member located between the stops and the cylindrical base. The third embodiment allows allowing the use of a shortened flat needle while also allowing some deflection of the jaws.

    摘要: An endoscopic infusion needle device includes a catheter within which an injection tube having a distal injection needle is slideably disposed. A proximal actuating handle is coupled to the proximal ends of the catheter and the injection tube, and a distal stopping structure is provided on distal portions of the catheter and the injection tube. In one embodiment, the stopping structures include a rigid elongate skeletal structure occupying a portion of the annular space between the tube and the catheter, and an annular band on the tube which resides within the skeletal structure. The skeletal structure fits tightly within the cannula, allows irrigation fluid to pass through the annular space between the tube and the catheter to exit the distal end of the catheter, prevents the annular band from escaping through the proximal end or the distal end of the skeletal structure, and maintains the tube in substantial axial alignment with the catheter. The annular band is located such that when the tube is moved proximally, the distal end of the injection needle is safely housed within the skeletal structure when the annular band is stopped by the skeletal structure; and, when the tube is moved distally, the distal end of the needle extends approximately 4-6 mm beyond the distal end of the skeletal structure when the annular band is stopped by the skeletal structure.

    摘要: A surgical trocar assembly includes a disposable valve assembly, a cannula assembly, and a trocar with a handle. The cannula assembly includes a cannula base having a valve assembly coupling device at its proximal end, and a cannula extending from its distal end. The disposable valve assembly has a coupling device for removably coupling it with the cannula base. The valve assembly also includes a valve body with a fluid passage communicating with the hollow cannula when it is coupled to the cannula base. A slit or flapper valve and a universal washer are mounted within the valve body and allow the insertion of the trocar or other endoscopic instruments therethrough while providing a fluid sealing of the fluid passage. The valve assembly may be provided with a side port which optionally contains an automatic valve actuated by a luer coupling. Several different valve assembly-cannula base couplings are disclosed as well as several different types of trocars.

    摘要: A battery compartment providing reverse-polarity and reduced voltage protection for a portable battery-powered electronic apparatus includes an elongated chamber for receiving a plurality of series-connected standard "D"-type battery cells. Positive and negative polarity electrical contact assemblies at each end of the chamber engage the positive and negative end terminals of the serially connected battery cells when the cells are properly orientated in the compartment. When the batteries are misoriented, an insulating member on the positive contact assembly prevents electrical contact with the negative battery terminal, and an insulator member on the negative contact assembly prevents electrical contact with the positive battery cell terminal.

    摘要: A surgical trocar assembly includes a disposable valve assembly, a cannula assembly, and a trocar with a handle. The cannula assembly includes a cannula base having a valve assembly coupling device at its proximal end, and a cannula extending from its distal end.     摘要: An endoscopic instrument includes a small diameter hollow tube, an axially displaceable wire extending through the tube, a manual actuator coupled to the proximal ends of the tube and wire for axially displacing the wire relative to the tube, a first end effector mechanically coupled to the distal end of the tube and having a proximal portion which is provided with a curved guiding channel which receives and guides a distal portion of the wire, and a second end effector mechanically coupled to the distal end of the displaceable wire and rotatably coupled to the first end effector. When arranged as a bipolar instrument, the tube and pull wire are conductive, the pull wire is covered with an electrically insulating sheath except at its very distal end, the first end effector is conductive and partially insulated and is electrically coupled to distal end of tube, and the second end effector is conductive and partially insulated and electrically coupled to the distal end of the pull wire. Both end effectors are preferably cast alloy partially coated with PTFE, and are rotatably coupled to each other with the aid of an insulating ceramic bushing-washer. According to one embodiment, the first end effector is provided with an integral axle pin. The provided endoscopic instrument, when the tube is 1.7 mm in diameter, is particularly useful in endoscopic neurological procedures.
