摘要: Described are techniques for fabricating one or more parts of a valve used in a liquid chromatography system. At least one of a rotor and a stator are provided. The rotor is included in the valve and has a first surface facing a stator. The stator is included in the valve and has a second surface facing the rotor. A pattern is formed in at least one of the first surface and the second surface. Forming the pattern includes compressing the at least one surface by applying pressure thereto causing displacement of material to form at least one groove.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to devices and methods for propelling fluids that feature at least one first pump assembly having a primary pump, an accumulator pump, drive means, valve means and control means. The valve means moves between the first position and the second position as the accumulator pump and primary pump alternate between a loading movement and a pump movement. The control means is in signal communication with the accumulator pump, the primary pump and the valve means. The control means issues signal command to the accumulator pump to assume the loading movement and the pump movement and the primary pump to assume the loading movement and pump movement in coordination with the movement of the valve means such that fluids are propelled from the first outlet.

摘要: In various embodiments a fluid control device suitable for high pressure analytical instruments includes a housing having an interior surface with an end wall. The interior surface defines a chamber. A valve assembly disposed in the chamber controls the flow of fluid through the chamber. An end cap is disposed in the housing opposite the end wall to enclose the chamber. The end wall and end cap each have an opening to pass a fluid to the chamber or to remove a fluid from the chamber. The housing and end cap each has an abutment surface to receive the other abutment surface. At least one of the abutment surfaces has a plastic seal coating. A means of compression, such as a compression housing and compression sleeve, is included to engage the end cap to deform the plastic seal coating between the abutment surfaces and thereby seal the chamber.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention feature devices and methods for holding fluids at high pressures. One embodiment of the present invention features a fluid containing conveying device for receiving and discharging fluids. The device comprises a housing having a chamber for containing a fluid. The housing has a first gasket receiving surface for receiving a gasket. A gasket formed of a deformable material and having a first abutment surface and second abutment surface. The first abutment surface received on the first gasket receiving surface and the second abutment surface for receiving a chamber closing piece. The chamber closing piece having a second gasket receiving surface, the chamber closing piece for closing the chamber. At least one of the first gasket receiving surface of the housing and the second gasket receiving surface of the chamber closing piece having a retaining grove, having at least one edge. Compression means for compressing the gasket, deforming the material such that the gasket is pressed into retaining groove and gripped by the edge of the cavity to prevent gasket movement.

摘要: A valve includes a rotor and a stator. The rotor and the stator each have seal surfaces for contacting and sliding against one another during operation of the valve. Either or both of the rotor and the stator have a seal-surface coating formed by depositing an at least partially amorphous interlayer on a substrate and depositing a surface layer, including diamond-like carbon, on the interlayer. The surface layer requires no mechanical polishing.

摘要: In general, the invention features a spring assembly for a gauge with a hollow metal tube that changes in volume in response to differential pressures applied across the walls. The tube has a neck connected to a fitting of the gauge, a body connected at one end to the neck with its other end sealed, and at least a portion of the walls of the body being flattened and cold worked to a reduced thickness to thereby increase their yield point to a spring temper. The body is coiled into a spiral or helix. The coiled tube is heat treated to increase its elasticity. The interior of the neck is in pressure communication with the fitting, and the interior of the body is in pressure communication through its unsealed end with the interior of the neck, whereby a change in the pressure applied to the fitting is communicated along the interior of the body changing the differential pressure across the walls of the body to cause a corresponding change in the volume.

摘要: A rotary shear valve assembly for liquid chromatography applications comprises a rotor assembly having a rotor and a drive shaft with a head portion. The rotor has a substantially planar surface with one or more rotor grooves and a pair of holes. The head portion has two pins. The pins are disposed substantially diametrically opposite of each other on a line through a center of the head portion. Each pin mates with one of the holes in the rotor. The rotor assembly can further comprise means for urging the rotor surface against the stator surface such that each rotor groove aligns with and provides a fluidic channel between two of the stator openings.

摘要: A shear valve for use in a high performance liquid chromatography system. The shear valve includes a first valve member having a plurality of first fluid-conveying features, and a second valve member having one or more second fluid-conveying features. The second valve member is movable, relative to the first valve member, between a plurality of discrete positions such that, in each of the discrete positions, at least one of the one or more second fluid-conveying features overlaps with multiple ones of the first fluid conveying features to provide for fluid communication therebetween. At least one of the first and second valve members is at least partially coated with a protective coating that includes an adhesion interlayer and a diamond-like carbon (DLC) layer. The DLC layer is deposited on the adhesion interlayer via filtered cathodic vacuum arc (FCVA) deposition.

摘要: A fluid switching valve includes a first valve element (e.g., a stator) that has a plurality of first fluid-conveying features (e.g., ports), and a second valve element (e.g., a rotor) that has one or more second fluid-conveying features (e.g., fluid conduits in the form of grooves). The second valve element is movable, relative to the first valve element, between a plurality of discrete positions such that, in each of the discrete positions, at least one of the one or more second fluid-conveying features overlaps with multiple ones of the first fluid conveying features to provide for fluid communication therebetween. At least one of the first valve element and the second valve element includes a recess. The recess serves to reduce wear between the first valve element and the second valve element. The recess is arranged such that it does not overlap with any of the first fluid-conveying features or any of the second fluid-conveying features when the rotor is in any of the discrete positions.
