They are suitable for the preparation of lubricants and lubricant compositions.

The composition has an improved viscosity index and is especially useful as a HSD lubricant. It is also useful as a hydraulic fluid and/or heat transfer liquid. By addition of such a polyester to such base oil, the viscosity index of the base oil is considerably improved.
