The warning sound emitting component selectively emits a warning sound that is audible outside of the vehicle. The controller controls the warning sound emitting component to emit the warning sound during a prescribed period that an engine sound is being emitted from an engine of the vehicle such that the engine sound and the warning sound are audible at a location outside the vehicle during the prescribed period when the controller is controlling the warning sound emitting component to switch between emitting the warning sound and refraining from emitting the warning sound based on a vehicle traveling condition.

    摘要: When an air conditioner is turned on during homogeneous operation, an equivalence ratio correction factor &Dgr;&phgr; is increased sharply and suddenly in such a manner as to show a jump for thereby increasing an engine output torque, and thereafter is decreased gradually with increase of a cylinder intake air quantity, whereby to maintain the engine output torque constant. However, when switching to a homogeneous mode occurs in the middle of the above control, switching to proper torque correction is not carried out at the time of a homogeneous combustion mode, i.e., torque correction by the use of ignition timing but the torque correction by the equivalence ratio correction factor &Dgr;&phgr; continuously. By this, in contrast to the case in which the torque correction is switched to one that is carried out by the use of ignition timing correction quantity, a sharp and sudden variation of engine output torque can be prevented. In the meantime, after completion of the torque correction by the above mentioned control, the torque correction at the time of the homogeneous combustion mode is carried out by ignition timing correction. Further, when the combustion mode is switched to stratified combustion during execution of torque correction by ignition timing correction at the time of the homogeneous combustion mode, the torque correction is switched to one that is carried out by the use of the equivalence ratio correction factor simultaneously with switching of the combustion mode.

    摘要: A control system for an internal combustion engine having an intake air amount regulating device and a fuel supply device. The control system comprises a device for detecting an engine operating condition of the engine, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to perform (a) calculating a basic fuel supply amount of fuel to be supplied to a combustion chamber of the engine in accordance with the engine operating; (b) calculating a lean limit air-fuel ratio in accordance with the engine operating condition, stable combustion in the combustion chamber being impossible at the air-fuel ratio leaner than the lean limit air-fuel ratio; (c) calculating a target intake air amount of intake air to be supplied to the combustion chamber, required for meeting the basic fuel supply amount and the lean limit air-fuel ratio; (d) controlling the intake air amount regulating device so as to regulate an intake air amount of the intake air to the target intake air amount and controlling the fuel supply device so as to regulate a fuel supply amount of the fuel to realize the lean limit air-fuel ratio, within a first engine operating condition (such an engine idling condition) which is within a predetermined low range in engine speed and in engine load; and (e) controlling the intake air amount regulating device so as to increase the intake air amount to fall within a high range between the maximum level and a level lower a predetermined amount than the maximum level and controlling fuel supply device so as to supply the fuel such that the air-fuel ratio falls within a predetermined range, within a second engine operating condition which is higher in at least one of engine speed and engine load than the first engine operating condition.

    摘要: In a combustion changeover of an internal combustion engine between a stratified combustion mode and a homogeneous combustion mode, an engine control system modifies an ignition timing to eliminate unwanted torque increase due to fuel increase. The controller determines an excess quantity, such as an excess factor of an actual intake air quantity with respect to a target intake air quantity, indicative of torque variation due to fuel increase, and determines an ignition timing modification quantity to eliminate the torque variation, in accordance with the excess quantity. With this modification quantity, the control system retards the ignition timing transiently and ensure smooth combustion changeover.
