Process for the production of water-hardenable compositions of organic polyisocyanates and polyamines containing at least partly blocked amino groups present as ketimines, the combinations essentially representing mixtures and optionally reaction products containing urea groups by mixing the organic polyisocyanates with the polyamines in such quantities that the equivalent ratio of isocyanate groups to blocked and free amino groups is between about 0.9:1 and 4:1 and reacting any free amino groups present with some of the isocyanate groups in the polyisocyanate to form ureas, characterized in that the polyamines containing at least partly blocked amino groups used are mixtures comprising(a) from about 50 to 95 amine equivalent percent of organic compounds which are free from primary and secondary amino groups and which contain at least two ketimine groups corresponding to the following formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents an alkyl or cycloalkyl radical and R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or an alkyl or cycloalkyl radical or in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 form a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical together with the two carbon atoms of the ketimine group and(b) from about 5 to 40 amine equivalent percent of organic compounds which are free from primary and secondary amino groups and which contain at least two ketimine groups of which one corresponds to the formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are as defined above, the other ketimine group(s) present correspond(s) to the formula shown in (a).

The present invention is directed to a process for the production of prepolymers containing free tertiary isocyanate groups by reacting(a) an organic diisocyanate containing one isocyanate group attached to a primary aliphatic carbon atom and an isocyanate group attached to a tertiary aliphatic or cycloaliphatic carbon atom with(b) a polyester polyol having a molecular weight of 800 to 12,000 and a hydroxyl functionality of 2 to 6 at an NCO/OH equivalent ratio of 1.6:1 to 2:1 to provide prepolymers having a molecular weight of about 1000 to 3000 and an NCO content of about 4 to 12%.The present invention is also directed to the prepolymers containing free isocyanate groups obtained by this process and to their use for the production of polyurethane lacquers and coatings.

The present invention relates to a process for the production of organic compounds containing (i) carbodiimide and/or uretone imine groups and (ii) blocked isocyanate groups, wherein about 10 to 90% of the isocyanate groups of an organic polyisocyanate are blocked by reaction with a monofunctional blocking agent for isocyanate groups, and subsequently about 65 to 100% of the free isocyanate groups still remaining are converted into carbodiimide groups with elimination of the carbodiimide. The present invention also relates to the organic compounds obtainable by this process and to their use for the production of plastics by reaction with compounds containing isocyanate-reactive groups by the isocyanate polyaddition process.

The present invention is directed to isocyanato isocyanurates prepared from diisocyanates which contain a sterically unhindered isocyanate group bound to a primary aliphatic carbon atom and a sterically hindered isocyanate group which is bound to a tertiary carbon atom forming part of a cycloaliphatic ring system, said diisocyanate having an NCO content of about 20 to 50% by weight.
