摘要: In a variably operated valve system for a compression ignition engine, an adjustment mechanism is controlled by means of a control section to detach an intake valve closure timing from a bottom dead center in accordance with an engine driving condition, and an engine start securing section guarantees an engine start even at least one of cases during a failure in the control section, during a stop of the engine, and during a start of the engine.

摘要: In a multi-stage fuel-injection internal combustion engine employing a fuel injection system and a variable valve actuation system, engine valve timings are variably controlled depending on engine operating conditions. An electronic engine control unit is configured to execute cooperative control of the timing of sub-injection, injected before main injection, responsively to intake valve closure timing, and also to execute cooperative control of the timing of sub-injection, injected after the-main injection, responsively to exhaust valve open timing.

摘要: In a compression ignition engine employing a variable valve actuation mechanism variably adjusting an intake valve characteristic including at least one of an intake valve lift and an intake valve closure timing, a control system operates to temporarily lower an effective compression ratio of the engine by controlling the intake valve characteristic during a cranking period of cold starting operation. At a point of time when a predetermined cranking speed threshold value has been reached owing to a cranking speed rise, the effective compression ratio is risen by controlling the intake valve characteristic. After combustion of the engine has been stabilized, the intake valve characteristic is brought closer to a desired value determined based on engine operating conditions by way of closed-loop control.

摘要: In a control apparatus for controlling a variable valve actuation system employed in an internal combustion engine, engine/vehicle sensors are provided to detect at least a cylinder pressure in an engine cylinder for monitoring a change of state in combustion, arising from fluctuations in states/characteristics of air-fuel mixture such as a change in fuel property. Also provided is a control system that controls the variable valve actuation system responsively to a manipulated variable modified based on the cylinder pressure reflecting the change of state in combustion by a model of combustion.

摘要: The pressure prevailing in a variable volume chamber which controls the compression ratio developed by a piston, is used control the movement of a valve which regulates the supply and draining of the chamber. During high load the high pressure is used to drain the chamber while under light load the lower pressure permits the chamber to be supplied with hydraulic fluid in a manner which tends to fill the same during induction phases and the like when the pressure in the cylinder is low.

摘要: To induce high compression engine operation hydraulic fluid is fed into a variable volume chamber defined between an outer piston and an inner one which is reciprocatively disposed therein via a supply passage which includes a one-way valve. When low compression engine operation is required the pressure supplied to a valve chamber in which a spool valve is disposed is increased to the point whereat the spool valve moves to a position wherein the supply passage is closed and a drain and transfer passages are opened. The drain passage leads directly to the cylinder bore so as to enable the hydraulic fluid in the variable volume chamber to be vented unrestrictedly. The transfer passage permits a small amount of hydraulic fluid to flow through the variable volume chamber to the drain passage in a manner which cools the same and prevents degradation of the hydraulic fluid retained in the one-way valve and the like.

摘要: A variable valve system has a drive shaft having a drive cam, a rockable cam opening/closing an engine valve, a transmission mechanism converting torque of the drive cam into a rocking motion and transmitting it to the rockable cam, a control shaft, and a control cam. When the variable valve system varies a valve lift amount of the engine valve by changing the rocking fulcrum of the transmission mechanism, the rocking fulcrum during a small valve lift control is set in an area outside an arc locus drawn with the drive shaft being a center of the arc and passing through a rocking fulcrum position positioned at a maximum valve lift and also inside an arc locus drawn with a pivot of the one end side of the transmission mechanism being a center of the arc and passing through the rocking fulcrum position positioned at the maximum valve lift.
