    摘要: A clock data recovery system is provided for resampling a clock signal according to an incoming data signal stream. It comprises a clock generator for generating said clock signal wherein one of the frequency and phase of that clock signal is dependent upon a control signal. It is further provided a phase detector operable to detect the phase difference between said clock signal and said incoming data signal stream and is operable to generate a phase difference signal. A loop controller has a variable-gain and is operable to control said clock generator by generating said control signal. That control signal is dependent in said phase difference signal and that variable-gain. The variable-gain is dependent upon a transition rate of the incoming data signal stream. The loop controller can comprise a low-pass filter to generate from the phase difference signal a low-pass filered phase signal and to adjust the bandwidth of the clock data recovery system. The loop controller further can comprise a variable-gain element to amplify the filtered signal in accordance with a received bit transition rate provided by a bit transition detector and a density calculator.

    摘要: A multi-junction opto-electronic device including a stack of wavelength selective absorption layers is proposed. The absorption layers include each a first layer with a grating of a specific pitch defining the wavelength of the incident light to be absorbed within a subjacent second electrically active layer itself on a third electrically inactive layer. The second electrically active layer within the different absorption layers is in electrical connection with lateral contacts to extract the electrical charge carriers generated by the absorbed incident light within the active layer. The grating within the first layer of the absorption layers is defined by periodic stripes of specific width depending on the wavelength to be absorbed by the respective absorption layers. The period of the stripes alignment is defined by the pitch of the grating. Advantageously, ordinary silicon technology can be used.

    摘要: The phase-locked loop according to the invention comprises a frequency acquisition loop. The frequency acquisition loop comprises a counter that is operable to count the number of periods of an oscillator signal occurring during a predetermined period of time that is derived from a reference signal period of a reference signal. The oscillator signal has an oscillator signal frequency and an oscillator signal phase. The frequency acquisition loop also comprises a subtractor that is operable to compare the counted number of periods with a desired division factor, wherein N=fVCOlocked/fref and wherein fVCOlocked denotes a desired frequency of the oscillator signal in a locked state of the phase-locked loop and fref denotes the frequency of said reference signal. The comparison results in a subtractor output frequency value. The phase-locked loop further comprises a phase acquisition loop. The phase acquisition loop comprises a phase rotator for adjusting the oscillator signal by a rotator phase, and a counter that is operable to count the number of periods of the phase-adjusted oscillator signal occurring during the predetermined period of time. The phase acquisition loop also comprises a subtractor that is operable to compare the counted number of periods with the desired division factor. The comparison results in a subtractor output phase value. The phase-locked loop further comprises a state machine that is operable to effectuate in dependence of the subtractor output frequency value and the subtractor output phase value an adjustment of the oscillator signal frequency and the oscillator signal phase.

    摘要: A THz radiation detector comprising a vertical antenna separated from a suspended platform by an isolating thermal air gap for concentrating THz radiation energy into a smaller suspended MEMS platform upon which a thermal sensor element is located. THz photon energy is converted into electrical energy via a thermally isolated air gap between plates of a coupling capacitor that couples energy from the antenna to the thermal sensor. The capacitor plates used for capacitive coupling of the received signal realize an electro-static actuator whereby the application of a DC bias varies the coupling capacitor gap. The DC bias causes the actuator to pull the suspended platform close to the antenna to reduce the capacitive gap, increasing the coupling capacitance, to touch the antenna array thus quickly discharging the heat induced in the sensor platform or to perform advanced readout operations, such as amplitude modulation and correlated double sampling.
