Apparatus and methods for locating morphological features within a body cavity using a catheter including proximal and distal ends, a transparent balloon carried on the distal end, and an optical imaging assembly carried on the distal end for imaging through the balloon. The balloon includes a channel extending therethrough to a lumen extending through the catheter. A guidewire or other localization member is received in the lumen that is extendable through the channel. During use, the catheter is inserted into a right atrium of a heart, and the balloon is expanded and placed against the wall of the heart to locate the coronary sinus. Sufficient force is applied to clear blood between the surface and the wall and clear the field of view of the imaging assembly. The catheter is manipulated to locate the coronary sinus, whereupon the localization member is advanced into the coronary sinus.

A number of compositions are disclosed, including multi-component substances such as autologous platelet gel, and other substances. The compositions disclosed can contain additives to augment/enhance the desired effects of the injection.

A system for treating a septal defect comprises a treatment device slidably received within a catheter. The device includes a patch attached to a support. The support has a body segment and a plurality of leg segments that self-expand radially outward as the device is released from the catheter. A method for treating a septal defect comprises delivering the treatment device in the catheter proximate a septal defect. The device is slid in a distal direction to release a portion of each leg segment from the catheter, the leg segments partially expanded radially outward. The leg segments are placed in contact with tissue surrounding the septal defect. The device is slid farther until the leg segments are fully released from the catheter and fully expanded, thereby implanting a distal portion of each leg segment in tissue surrounding the septal defect and positioning the patch against the septal defect.

The present invention provides a defect patch device and method that patches a defect in the heart or other cardiovascular tissue. One aspect provides a PFO closure device and method that patches a PFO in the right atrium without the device extending through the PFO into the left atrium. The patch device includes a patch and a heart tissue engaging member for attaching the device over the defect. A deployment device and method includes a device positioner to advance the device out of a catheter and to position the device over the defect to attach the device to the tissue around the defect. The positioner may include a device expander or opener that opens the device for deployment.
