This invention relates to a heating method for forming a thermoplastic bottle in which a heating member is inserted into the interior from a preform made of a thermoplastic material or the bottle and the preform or plastic bottle is heated by the heating member and a heating device located externally so as to thereby heat the same simultaneously internally and externally thereof, the temperature of the respective heating member being controlled respectively. Radiant heat energy distribution is variable along the longitudinal direction of the heating member so as to carry out the heating process in conformity with the bottle to be formed so as to manufacture the plastic bottle with high quality. A metal to be melted within a predetermined temperature range is enclosed in the heating member and the predetermined temperature of the heating member is maintained for a long period of time by the utilization of the latent heat of the metal so as to manufacture the plastic bottle with high quality under precise temperature setting conditions. The heating means is also utilized for the heating of a mouth portion of the plastic bottle so as to obtain a suitable crystallization of the mouth portion.

By adjusting the contents of a dibasic carboxylic acid and its oligomer derived from the polyester to 500 ppm or less, and adjusting sodium to 6 ppm or less and all alkali metals to 30 ppm or less, especially 20 ppm or less, the flavor retention of the packaging material can be markedly increased.

Disclosed is a process for the preparation of a coated oriented plastic container, which comprises coating an aqueous latex or organic solvent solution of a vinylidene chloride copolymer on at least one surface of a parison, preform or sheet for formation of container which is formed by hot molding of a molecularly orientable thermoplastic resin, drying the coated parison, preform or sheet to form a coating layer, and subjecting the formed coated structure to draw molding such as biaxial draw blow molding or draw forming, wherein the coating layer of the vinylidene chloride copolymer is crystallized at the step of forming the coating layer or the draw molding step.In the coated oriented plastic container prepared according to this process, the adhesion of the coating layer of the vinylidene chloride copolymer to the plastic container substrate is highly improved, and even under severe conditions, peeling of the coating layer is prevented. Moreover, the gas barrier property, strength and chemical resistance of the container are prominently improved.

The packaging container or cap of this invention suppresses the lowering of flavor retention incident to the dissolving out of the oxygen absorbing agent or its oxidation product even after retorting sterilization. The preservability of the contents and flavor retention can be achieved for a long period of time. According to a preferred embodiment, the oxygen absorbing speed can be increased. After storage for a long time, or after heat sterilization, a rugged state does not occur. There can be formed the oxygen-absorbing resin composition and the packaging container having excellent outer appearance.

A plastic container made of olefin resins having frosted appearance which gives excellent shade-off, deep and high-grade impression, and a process for producing the same. The process produces a plastic container having the above-mentioned appearance maintaining good reproducibility and excellent moldability. That is, a frosted plastic container wherein at least the outer surface of the plastic container is formed of a blend of plural kinds of olefin resins, one resin (A) forming the layer of said blend exists as a continuous phase, another resin (B) exists as a disperse phase, and the disperse phase which has an aspect ratio (ratio of long diameter/short diameter) of 6 or smaller and in which the grains exist having grain sizes (short diameters) of from 0.3 to 20 .mu.m, has an area percentage of at least 15% or larger relative to the whole sectional area.
