The polyolefin products are particularly suitable for shock-absorbing components of motor vehicles, such as bumpers, spoilers and side edge protection elements.

Structurally isomeric poly(alkyl ethylenes) with H and Y structures, polymeric bridging segments and a Y index of 2×10−3 to 8×10−3 (kJ/mole/degree), have decreased instability in the melt and more advantageous processing properties. The structurally isomeric poly(alkyl ethylenes) with H and Y structures are synthesized by an irradiating method, a melt reaction method or a solid phase reaction method by reacting poly(alkyl ethylenes) with 0.05 to 5% by weight of monofunctional, difunctional and polyfunctional monomers, optionally in the presence of peroxides. The structurally isomeric poly(alkyl ethylenes) are suitable for producing films, sheets, panels, coatings, pipes, hollow objects and foams.

The polyolefin fibers and polyolefin yarns of high strength and elongation and the textile fabrics produced therefrom are suitable for the production of textiles for the home, multilayered textiles, industrial textiles, nonwoven materials in medicine and hygiene and elastic hygiene articles.

The modified polypropylenes of improved processability as well as mixtures with unmodified polypropylenes are suitable for the production of films, sheets, fibers, panels, coatings, pipes, hollow objects and foamed materials.

The fine-celled polyolefin foams are suitable for use in the packaging sector, preferably for packaging foods, for external and internal parts of motor vehicles and for components of electric and electronic equipment.

The thermoplastic elastomers are formed according to a method in which mixtures of propylene homopolymers and/or propylene copolymers, elastomeric C4 C12 olefin copolymers and/or terpolymers and C8 to C14 diacrylates, C7 to C16 diallyl compounds, C9 to C15 dimethacrylates, C7 to C10 divinyl compounds, C12 to C17 acrylate esters of polyalcohols, C15 to C21 methacrylate esters of polyalcohols and/or C9 C12 triallyl compounds are added to a melt. The thermoplastic elastomers, as well as mixtures of the thermoplastic elastomers with conventional polyolefins, are suitable for use in the vehicle industry, in the domestic appliances industry, in the construction industry and in medical technology.
