Organopolysiloxane products containing acyl thiourea groups and from the units: ##STR1## are disclosed. R.sup.1 stands for an optionally substituted phenyl group or an alky group and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 forR.sup.4 --SiO.sub.3/2 (2)units. R.sup.4 is alkylene. The free valences of the oxygen atoms are saturated by Si atoms of further R.sup.4 --SiO.sub.3/2 groups and/or by Si atoms of: ##STR2## amine units, wherein R.sup.5 =H; R.sup.2 or R.sup.3 and/or by cross-linking compounds of Si, Ti or Al. The ratio between the Si atoms in (1) and (3) to the Si, Ti, Al cross-linking atoms is 1:0 to 1:10. Various methods of preparing the products are described. These polymers to separate metals from solutions.

A process is described for the hydrided of halogen-substituted compounds of the second to fourth period of Groups III to V of the periodic system, with the exception of gallium, aluminum, carbon, or nitrogen. A finely-granulated aluminum is added to a molten salt melt that consists of 50-67 molar % AlCl.sub.3 (anhydrous) and 50 to 33 molar % of sodium chloride. Then to the stirred, or by some other means dispersed suspension, hydrogen is introduced to hydrided the finely-dispersed aluminum. Thereafter the mixture is reacted with the halogen-substituted compound and the resulting hydrided compound is renewed.

This copolycondensate consists of the units ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 -R.sup.4 =R.sup.5 -Si ##STR2## in which R.sup.5 =alkylene with C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 directly bound to P or N, cycloalkylene with C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 or ##STR3## The ratio between the number of moles of units (II) and the number of moles of bound metal atoms is 1:1 to 1.000 to 1 and the ratio between units (I) and (II) is preferably 10:90 to 95:5 mole %.The polymeric complex compounds are present macroscopically as spherical particles with a diameter of 0.01. to 3.0 mm, a BET surface of >0 to 1000 m.sup.2 /g, a specific pore volume of 0.01 to 6.5 ml/g, and a bulk density of 50 to 1000 g/l.Several methods of preparing the substance of the invention with special posttreatment stages and the use of the polymeric metal complexes as catalysts in organic chemistry are disclosed.

A method of purifying alkoxysilanes contaminated by organosilicon compounds with hydrolyzable chlorine atoms is disclosed wherein the alkoxysilanes are reacted in a pressure reactor with an alcohol, preferably in the presence of an HCl acceptor, at a temperature of 5.degree. C. to 160.degree. C. above the boiling point of the alcohol used and at the pressure which develops in the reactor.
