All of hydrolysis resistance, heat resistance and calcium chloride resistance as the characteristics required during use are satisfied and the moldability as the characteristic required during molding is also ensured. Further, corrugation moldability, pressure proofness, bendability and shape retainability are ensured while enabling to adopt a mono-layer structure. A water pipe for use in automobiles molded with a thermoplastic polymer composition mainly comprising a polyamide resin (I) and a polyolefin (II), in which the polyamide resin (I) is a specified polyamide 9T; the amount of terminal amino groups of the polyamide resin (I) is 60 μmol/g or more and the amount of terminal carboxyl groups of the polyamide resin (I) is 10 μmol/g or less; the polyolefin (II) contains an acid modified polyolefin and the not acid-modified polyolefin at a mass ratio of from 80:20 to 20:80 and, as a result, the amount of the acid modification is from 0.2 to 0.5 mass %; and the mass ratio of (I) and (II) is from 90:10 to 70:30.

A semi-aromatic polyamide resin is provided which has a high level of residence stability, hot-water resistance and chemical resistance and is also excellent in adhesive properties and compatibility with other resins and the like.The semi-aromatic polyamide resin comprises: dicarboxylic acid units in which 50 to 100 mol % of the dicarboxylic acid units are aromatic dicarboxylic acid units; and diamine units in which 60 to 100 mol % of the diamine units are aliphatic diamine units having 9 to 13 carbon atoms. Furthermore, at least 10% of terminal groups of molecular chains of the polyamide resin are blocked with a terminal-blocking agent, and the amount of terminal amino groups of the molecular chains is 60 μeq/g or more and 120 μeq/g or less. In addition, [NH2]/[COOH]≧6 is satisfied, where [NH2] (μeq/g) represents the amount of the terminal amino groups and [COOH] (μeq/g) represents the amount of terminal carboxyl groups.

A polyamide (9-T polyamide) comprising (a) 60 to 100 mole of terephthalic acid and (b) a diamine component comprising 60 to 100 mole % of 1,9-nonanediamine, said polyamide having an intrinsic viscosity �.eta.! as determined by measurement in concentrated sulfuric acid at 30.degree. C. of 0.6 to 2.0 dl/g and having at least 10% of terminal groups thereof blocked. Another polyamide (9M-T polyamide) comprises a dicarboxylic acid component (a) comprising 60 to 100 mole % of terephthalic acid and a diamine component (b) comprising 60 to 100 mole % of 1,9-nonanediamine and 2-methyl-1,8octanediamine, the molar ratio between said 1,9 nonanediamine and said 2-methyl-1,8-octanediamine being in a range of 60:40 to 99:1, said polyamide having an intrinsic viscosity �.eta.! as determined by measurement in concentrated sulfuric acid at 30.degree. C. of 0.4 to 3.0 dl/g. These polyamides have excellent moldability, as well as excellent hot water resistance, surface neatness, heat resistance, mechanical characteristics, low-water-absorption property and chemical resistance. Polyamide compositions comprising the 9-T polyamide or 9M-T polyamide and a filler are suitably used as engineering plastics.

A copolyester consisting essentially of ethylene terephthalate units and further comprising 0.01 to 1 mole % based on the sum of the moles of total diol units and the moles of triol units of a triol unit represented by the following formula (I) and/or a triol unit represented by the following formula (II). ##STR1## wherein A is a group represented by formula --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- or formula --CH(CH.sub.3)CH.sub.2 --, B is a divalent hydrocarbon group, --CO--, --SO.sub.2 --, --0-- or a direct bond (-), and p, q, r, s, t and u are each an integer of 1 to 8. A process for producing the same and molded articles (in particular extrusion blow molded articles) therefrom. The copolyesters of the present invention are applicable to melt moldings accompanying melt extrusion, in particular extrusion blow molding, where parisons therefrom have good draw-down tendency and blow moldability. The copolyesters can give, without causing troubles on molding, molded articles, in particular extrusion blow molded articles, having excellent transparency, heat resistance, moisture resistance and like properties. Aromatic triols usable for producing the above copolyesters are also provided.
