摘要: A display device and a method for driving the display device is disclosed. The display device comprises drive circuitry (35) and a plurality of pixels (PIX1, PIX2, PIX3, PIX4, PIX5, PIX6) having movable charged particles (116). The drive circuitry is configured to apply control signals to the pixels to move the charged particles between first (110) and second (112) regions of each pixel in order to alter the optical appearance of each pixel. The method for each pixel comprises a pre-addressing stage (PRA) of moving the charged particles towards the boundary (114) between the first and second regions, and then an addressing stage (ADD) of moving the particles to one side or the other side of the boundary, in dependence on the desired optical appearance of the pixel.

摘要: Electrophoretic display units (1) comprising pixels (11) situated between common electrodes (6) and pixel electrodes (5) need, for shortening the total image update times, increased driving voltages across the pixels (11) which endanger transistors (12) coupled to the pixel electrodes (5). These increased driving voltage (V6) to the common electrode (6). To protect the transistors (12) against these increased driving voltages, a setting signal (S1, S2) is supplied to the pixel electrode (5) via the transistor (12) for reducing a voltage across the pixel (11) resulting from a transition in the alternating voltage signal (V6). During driving frame periods (Fd) data pulses (D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6) are supplied, and during setting frame periods (Fs), the setting signals (S1, S2) are supplied.

摘要: A display apparatus (1) comprises a matrix display device (DD) with pixels (10) wherein particles (14) move in a fluid (13) between electrodes (6, 6′, 7). An optical state of the pixels (10) is defined by a value of a drive voltage (VDi) and a duration (Di) of a drive period (TDi) during which the drive voltage (VDi) is present across the pixel (10). A DC-balancing circuit (3) controls the amplitudes of the drive voltages (VDi) and/or durations (Di) of drive periods (TDi) to obtain a substantially zero time-average value (N) across each pixel (10) or across each sub-group of pixels. This control of the amplitude of the drive voltages (VDi) and/or the duration (Di) of the drive periods (TDi) allows minimizing the image retention, without requiring reset pulses causing all pixels (10) to become temporarily white or black. In a preferred embodiment in accordance with the invention, a display device (DD) is used in which a drive voltage (VDi) is supplied to the pixel (10) with a level such that the grey level (or the amount of colorization) does not change anymore after an initial period of time. Now, if applicable, the DC-balancing can be performed by making the duration (Di) of the drive periods (TDi) longer than the initial period of time.

摘要: A method of maintaining a state in a subject (12) comprises generating a pacing signal (20) at a first frequency, presenting to the subject an output based upon the generated pacing signal, measuring one or more physiological parameters of the subject, detecting that the measured parameter(s) conform to a desired state in the subject, and either removing the presentation to the subject of the output based upon the generated pacing signal, or generating a new pacing signal at a second frequency, and presenting to the subject an output based upon the generated new pacing signal. The method can further comprise, prior to the detecting that the measured parameter(s) conform to a desired state in the subject, adjusting the pacing signal according to feedback from the measured parameter(s). In a preferred embodiment, the method also further comprises detecting that the measured parameter(s) no longer conform to a desired state in the subject, and presenting to the subject an output based upon the original generated pacing signal.
