摘要: An electrode assembly structured for use in detecting electrodermal activity (EDA) includes a substrate, at least two separate electrodes affixed to the substrate, and a separate electrically-conductive coating covering each electrode. Each coating includes a base portion and a plurality of unit cells extending from the base portion. The unit cells combine to form a microstructure on an outer surface of the coating. Dimensions and spatial arrangements of the unit cells can be controlled to provide controlled variations along a contour defined by the microstructures, so that the contour conforms to ridges in the skin surfaces of multiple users. This increases electrical conductivity between the skin surfaces and the conductive coating, thereby enhancing electrical contact between the user and the electrodes covered by the coating.

摘要: A window can be used for object detection and/or identification. The window can have a first side and a second side. An optical grating can be operatively positioned with respect to the first side of the window. A light source can be configured to emit light toward the optical grating. A detector can be operatively positioned to acquire spectroscopic data of the light emitted from the light source after the light has interacted with the optical grating. Using the optical grating, a temperature at or near the first side can be determined. Based on the temperature, it can be determined whether an object is located on the first side of the window.

摘要: Modular cooling assemblies are provided for simultaneously cooling both a power module and a vehicle motor. Each cooling assembly may include a first cooling structure defining at least one major surface in thermal communication with the vehicle motor. A second cooling structure may be provided, defining at least one major surface in thermal communication with a power module. An interlayer structure may be provided, configured to couple the first cooling structure to the second cooling structure. The first cooling structure, the second cooling structure, and the interlayer structure are positioned in a stacked arrangement and configured to provide a flow of coolant fluid from a fluid inlet defined in first cooling structure, through the interlayer structure, and to at least one heat sink feature of the second cooling structure. The coolant fluid is then directed through a fluid outlet defined in the second cooling structure.

摘要: Systems and methods for improving the brightness of a transparent display are disclosed herein. One embodiment collects ambient light using an array of diffraction gratings disposed on an external surface of a building; filters the ambient light to produce filtered ambient light; generates primary-source light using a light-emitting-diode (LED) light source; and injects, into a transparent edge-lit liquid crystal waveguide display deployed in at least a portion of a window of the building, the primary-source light and the filtered ambient light in a color-synchronized manner. The filtered ambient light improves the brightness of the transparent edge-lit liquid crystal waveguide display.

摘要: A wireless charging pad includes a rectifier, a receiver coil, a heat spreader plate sandwich between the rectifier and the receiver coil, and a ferrite cold plate sandwiched between the receiver coil and the heat spreader plate. The ferrite cold plate has a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, and a fluid chamber in fluid communication with the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. The fluid chamber includes a primary cooling chamber and a secondary cooling chamber. Primary cooling fins extending from the heat spreader plate are disposed in the primary cooling chamber and secondary cooling fins extending from a base of the ferrite cooling plate are disposed in the secondary cooling chamber. The ferrite cooling plate cools the rectifier and inhibits or blocks electromagnetic leakage from the receiver coil from interfering with operation of rectifier.

摘要: A silicon on insulator (SOI) photonic device having a waveguide is provided that includes a mode overlap portion with a topology optimized structure situated below an electrode of the capacitance structure. The device can significantly change a refractive index in a volume of mode overlap depending upon the applied potential to the capacitor and allows for a π phase shift in a modest mode overlap volume. The topology optimized structure has a waveguide and substrate that are partitioned in three dimensions using an extruded projection design. The electrode is a transition metal di-chalcogenide monolayer sheet (2D TMD). The enhanced mode overlay from the topology optimized waveguide portion allows a large reduction in the length of the waveguide with the mode overlap to achieve the needed phase shift for a photonic device.

The seating surface can be configured to morph between a sittable shape, in which the seating surface is coextensive with the seat understructure, and an unsittable shape, in which the seating surface is expanded over at least a portion of the seat understructure. The seat blocking system can include a seat blocker. The seat blocker can be integrated with the seat. The seat blocker can be operable to morph between a deactivated state, whereby the seat blocker leaves the seat understructure to impart the sittable shape to the seating surface, and an activated state, in which the seat blocker acts on the seating surface to impart the unsittable shape to the seating surface.
