Abstract:
Various examples are related to template-free methodologies to obtain “semi-regular” micro/nano-textures utilizing ribbing instability behavior in viscoelastic polymers. The methodologies offer low manufacturing cost and scalability for real-world applications. In one example, a method includes forming a viscoelastic material coating and forming micro-scale and/or nano-scale 3D features on a surface of the viscoelastic material coating. The micro-scale and/or nano-scale 3D features can be formed under shearing stress using a roll-to-roll process without a template. The texture periodicity and height in the polymer coat film can be adjusted through the roll coating process parameters and/or the polymer composite behavior.
Abstract:
A high gloss acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) sheet includes an ABS substrate, an intermediate film of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophen)-polystyrene sulfonate formed on top of the ABS substrate, and a fluorinated resin film of poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) formed on top of the intermediate film. A method of preparing the high gloss ABS sheet is also disclosed.

Abstract:
A process for forming a polymer film on a substrate through an intermediate organometallic layer is disclosed. A self-assembled monolayer (SAM) containing an initiator for living polymerization such as controlled radical polymerization is formed on the organometallic layer followed by living polymerization such as controlled radical polymerization of a polymerizable monomer component.

Abstract:
The major objective is to provide a fluorocarbon film wherein fine voids are formed by a step (SA1) for introducing a mixed gas containing a first carbon fluoride gas and a second carbon fluoride gas on a substrate placed inside a chamber, and depositing a fluorocarbon film on the substrate; and a step (SA2) for forming voids in the fluorocarbon film by selectively removing volatile components contained in the fluorocarbon film are included and especially in the step (SA2) for forming voids, it is preferable to include a step for cleaning the fluorocarbon film with a supercritical fluid.
Abstract:
The invention relates to use of a tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoroolefin copolymer applied as a primer powder in conjunction with a powder overcoat of tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoro (vinyl alkyl ether) copolymer, also known as perfluoroalkoxy polymer (PFA), which when baked onto a substrate gives superior and more durable adhesion of the coating system to the substrate. The quality of the adhesion is measured by a boiling water peel test.
