摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for electrochemically etching grooves in a working surface. In an aspect, a frame holds a working surface about an axis and facing an electrode movable along the axis. The electrode, axially movable, has surface carrying a groove pattern to fix on the working surface. A source of electrolyte is pumped at a fixed static pressure rate between the surface of the movable electrode and the working surface. In an aspect, a support fixture supports the electrode for movement toward and away from the working surface with minimal frictional restriction. A force biases the electrode surface toward the working surface so that a gap through which the electrolyte flows between the surface of the movable electrode and the working surface is determined primarily by the static flow rate of the electrolyte and the force bias of the electrode toward the working surface.

摘要: A gap detection apparatus for determining in real time the gap required for electrochemical machining gap includes a tooling electrode, a plurality of tool adjusting electrodes, a feedback circuit, a processing feed mechanism for controlling the tooling electrode, a three-dimensional driving mechanism, and an automatic control and measurement system. The tooling electrode includes a plurality of through-holes for receiving tool adjusting electrodes. The three-dimensional driving mechanism is mounted upon the processing feed mechanism, which includes a Z-coordinate feeding portion having a thimble for the feeding of the tool adjusting electrodes. The automatic control and measurement system controls the feed of the processing feed mechanism and the three-dimensional driving mechanism, and establishes the required gap for electrochemical machining.

摘要: An electric discharge machining apparatus is provided with an electrode mounting section which mounts a tool electrode, and an electrode driving section which has a radial driving section which supports and drives the electrode mounting section in a non-contact manner in a radial direction and a thrust driving section which supports and drives the electrode mounting section in a non-contact manner in a thrust direction, and a machining state is controlled by adjusting a position of the tool electrode by the electrode driving section. Because of such a structure, a mass increase of a section which should be driven together with the electrode is restricted, and high response in X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis directions are achieved, whereby an electric discharge machining apparatus capable of improving a machining speed and a machining accuracy is achieved.

摘要: A method of polishing a surface of an object disposed within a gas chamber is provided. The method includes filling the gas chamber with a discharging medium to a predefined pressure, applying a voltage between an electrode and the surface, calibrating a height of the electrode relative to the surface so as to establish electrical breakdown threshold criteria, and scanning the electrode with respect to the surface so as to sequentially position the electrode over a plurality of locations on the surface, each location characterized by a surface error. When a respective location in the plurality of locations has a surface error that meets the electrical breakdown threshold criteria, electrical breakdown occurs, whereby the electrical breakdown results in a discharging pulse that polishes the surface.
