A device for the laser transmission welding of two plastic assembly parts is provided, wherein at least one of the plastic assembly parts contains an absorber for laser light, comprising a processing head with a processing side, with a processing-side discharge shaft for at least one laser beam and with a laser-transparent pressing means for pressing together the plastic assembly parts, wherein the laser-transparent pressing means is guided decoupled from the processing head in the discharge shaft. Furthermore, a method for producing a welded joint between two plastic assembly parts by laser transmission welding is specified.

A method for joining workpieces made from plastic, the upper workpiece, facing a laser source, consisting of a material transparent to the laser beam, and the lower workpiece consisting of a material absorbent to the laser beam, such that the mutually bordering contact surfaces for the two workpieces melt and are joined to one another under pressure during a subsequent cooling, the guiding of the laser beam onto the site to be joined, and the mechanical compression of the workpieces being carried out simultaneously by a machining head. The corresponding device comprises a machining head with focussing devices for the laser beam onto the contact surface, and pressure-exerting devices for compressing the workpieces. A rotatably mounted glass ball or roller is particularly suitable as pressure-exerting device. The invention permits welding quality to be assured in conjunction with flexibility of the welding operation without expensive and complicated damping balls.

A method is provided for connecting a filter medium to a connection element, wherein the filter medium and the connection element are brought into contact with each other and connected to each other by exposure to laser radiation. The connection element may be welded to the end faces of filter folds in strips having a width of 1 mm. The connection element may include a laser light-absorbing layer and a laser light-transparent layer. The filter medium and connection elements may comprise nonwoven fabrics.

To this end, a multiplicity of processing heads are assembled to form a unit, so that a high production throughput can be achieved. Spacer devices for setting the distance of the top transparent material strips to be welded are also located between the individual processing heads.
