Abstract: In accordance with various embodiments, described herein are systems and/or methods for enabling efficient wireless power transfer and charging of devices and/or batteries, including in some embodiments freedom of placement of the devices and/or batteries in one or multiple (e.g. one, two or three) dimensions, and/or improved features such as ease of use and compatibility. Exemplary applications include beam inductive or magnetic charging and power for use in, e.g., mobile, electronic, electric, lighting or other devices, machines, batteries, power tools, kitchen, military, medical, industrial tools or systems, robots, trains, buses, trucks and/or vehicles, and other environments.

Abstract: A control device for power feeding during traveling includes a processor. Further, when a living object or a metal foreign object is detected around a primary coil of a power transfer device that transfers power to a power reception device of a vehicle that is traveling, the processor deletes identification information on the primary coil registered in an identification information list of the primary coil, and when the living object or the metal foreign object is not detected, the processor performs compatibility check and service authentication between the power reception device of the vehicle and the power transfer device.

Abstract: A power receiving apparatus wirelessly receives power from a power transmission apparatus that performs first detection processing of detecting a foreign object based on values of voltages or currents at at least two time points in a predetermined period during which power transmission is restricted, transmits, to the power transmission apparatus, data indicating received power that is to be used in second detection processing of detecting a foreign object based on power loss in accordance with a result of the first detection processing, changes an output voltage to be output to a load, and, in a case where the output voltage is changed after the data is transmitted, controls the data not to be used in the second detection processing.

The combined MOD and LOD system may comprise a transmitting pad, a detection coil pad coupled to the transmitting pad, and a receiving pad positioned adjacent to the transmitting pad. The transmitting pad, the detection coil pad, and the receiving pad may be configured such that, when a living object or a metal object appears between the transmitting pad and the receiving pad, an inductance or capacitance value change of the detection coil pad occurs.

Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a presence of an object includes an inductive sensing coil that is configurable to generate a magnetic field. The inductive sensing coil is configured to have an electrical characteristic that is detectable when generating the magnetic field. The apparatus comprises a controller configured to detect a change in the electrical characteristic and determine a presence of the object based on the detected change in the electrical characteristic.

Abstract: A wireless electric vehicle charging system comprises base-side equipment for generating a magnetic field and vehicle-side equipment for receiving energy via the magnetic field to supply power to a vehicle-driving battery. Monitoring circuitry monitors one or more of voltage, current, or phase associated with the base-side equipment and halts generation of the magnetic field in response to a change in the voltage, current, or phase associated with the operation of the base-side equipment that indicates a fault condition at the vehicle-side equipment, which may include a loss of power or disconnection of a battery. Based on detection of the change, the monitoring circuitry can halt generation of the magnetic field to prevent damage at the vehicle-side equipment.

Abstract: A wireless energy transfer system includes a foreign object debris detection system. The system includes at least one wireless energy transfer source configured to generate an oscillating magnetic field. The foreign object debris may be detected by at least one field gradiometer positioned in the oscillating magnetic field. The voltage of the at least one field gradiometer may be measured using readout circuitry and a feedback loop based on the readings from the gradiometers may be used to control the parameters of the wireless energy source.
