Causes of hair loss have not been completely clarified and still remain unknown in many points. However, it appears that hair loss is partly caused by a mechanism wherein androgenic hormones in the scalp become active via the activation of DHT hormone by 5α-reductase and thus the activity of cells in hair roots is lost. In the present invention, an antibody, said antibody being obtained by inoculating a female bird with 5α-reductase or DHT as an antigen, is administered to the scalp so that the activity of DHT is suppressed and the activity of cells in hair roots is elevated. This antibody can be used in the form of a composition together with other component (s), for example, as a hair tonic together with another hair growth promoter.

A method for large-scale production of anti-NoV antibodies for use as a potential treatment for NoV disease using passive immunization. NoV-specific immunoglobulins (IgY) can be produced by immunizing chickens with NoV P particles. The birds continuously produced high titers of antibodies in their eggs for at least 3 months, in which NoV-specific antibody levels reached 4.7-9.2 mg/egg yolk. The egg yolk antibodies strongly reacted with NoV P particles by both ELISA and Western blot and blocked NoV virus-like particle (VLP) and P particle binding to the histo-blood group antigen (HBGA) receptors with a BT50 of about 1:800. The chicken IgY remain stable at 70° C. for 30 min or treatment at pH 4 to 9 for 3 hr, demonstrating that chicken IgY provides large-scale production of anti-NoV antibodies for use in passive immunization against NoV infection.

The present invention provides the method of obtaining IgA and IgM antibodies from chicken egg whites. The method involves separating chicken egg whites into two fractions which contain IgA and IgM antibodies exclusively. This separation method consists of raising the volume of the egg whites using purified water, lowering the pH of said volume, filtering the IgM fraction from said volume, precipitating the IgA fraction from the remaining volume, dialyzing the IgA fraction and drying the IgA and IgM fractions.
