The present invention relates to a new Inorganic Blue pigments from Cobalt doped Magnesium having Transition Element Oxides and a process for the preparing the same. The present invention more particularly relates to the development of blue pigments, comprising oxides of alkaline earth, and transition metals of the general formula Mg1-xCoxWO4 (x=0.1 to 0.5), Mg1-xCoxN-bO6 (x=0.1 to 0.5), and Mg1-xCoxTiO3 (x=0.1 to 0.5) and well suited for coloring applications of a wide variety of substrates for example paints, varnishes, plastics, ceramics etc. Raw materials such as MgO, CoO and one of WO3, TiO2, Nb2O5 and are weighted in the stoichiometric ratio and calcined in the range 1100-1300° C. for 6-12 hrs duration in air atmosphere. The well ground calcined powders were used for characterization of the pigments. The phase purity and optical properties of the prepared pigments were investigated.

The invention provides dispersed inorganic mixed metal oxide pigment compositions utilizing a carboxylic acid, containing dispersant and a mixed metal oxide pigment. The metal oxide pigment is of the type used to colour ceramic or glass articles. The dispersant, in addition to at least one carboxylic acid group, comprises at least one 300-3000 g/mole solubilizing chain of repeating units from hydrocarbylene or repeating units from C3 or C4 alkylene ethers or mixtures of said ethers. A milling process using beads is also described to reduce the mixed metal oxide particle size to the desired range. A method of using the mixed metal oxide dispersion to digitally print an image on a ceramic or glass article using the dispersion jetted through a nozzle and firing the coloured article is also described.

The dispersion can be prepared by a method comprising preparing an aqueous dispersion of a flaky titanium oxide particle containing an organic cation, centrifuging the aqueous dispersion to produce a precipitate, and adding the precipitate to an organic solvent, or a method comprising lyophilizing the aqueous dispersion to produce a lyophilized material and mixing the lyophilized material to an organic solvent. When the organic dispersion is used, it becomes possible to form a film comprising a monolayer of a titanium oxide nanosheet densely arranged therein by such a simple manner that the dispersion is coated on a base material and drying the dispersion. The film thus produced has a photocatalytic activity and a super-hydrophilic property.

A conductive silver via paste comprising particulate conductive silver, a vanadium-phosphorus-oxide and an organic vehicle is particularly useful in providing the metallization of the holes in the silicon wafers of MWT solar cells. The result is a metallic electrically conductive via between the collector lines on the front side and the emitter electrode on the back-side of the solar cell. The paste can also be used to form the collector lines on the front-side of the solar cell and the emitter electrode on the back-side of the solar cell. Also disclosed are metal-wrap-through silicon solar cells comprising the fired conductive silver paste.
