An aqueous adhesive composition includes: a phenol/aldehyde resin and an unsaturated elastomer latex. The phenol/aldehyde resin is based on: an aromatic polyaldehyde bearing at least two aldehyde functional groups and including at least one aromatic nucleus; and a polyphenol including at least one aromatic nucleus. If there is just one aromatic nucleus, the nucleus bears two or three hydroxyl functional groups in a meta position with respect to each other or with respect to one another, with a remainder of the nucleus being unsubstituted. If there are plural aromatic nuclei, at least two of the nuclei each bear two or three hydroxyl functional groups in the meta position with respect to each other or with respect to one another, with two positions ortho to at least one of these hydroxyl functional groups being unsubstituted. The adhesive composition is useable to adhere a textile material to a crosslinkable rubber composition.

Abstract:
Adhesives containing an aldehyde-based resin, a kraft lignin, and a surfactant and methods for making and using same are provided. In one or more embodiments, the adhesive can include an aldehyde-based resin; a kraft lignin; a surfactant; an alkaline compound; and water. The adhesive can have a viscosity of about 500 cP to about 5,000 cP, at a temperature of about 25° C. In one example, the adhesive can include about 20 wt % to about 40 wt % of the aldehyde-based resin, about 1 wt % to about 15 wt % of the kraft lignin, about 0.05 wt % to about 2 wt % of the surfactant, about 0.5 wt % to about 10 wt % of the alkaline compound, and about 45 wt % to about 70 wt % of water, where all weight percent values are based on a combined weight of the aldehyde-based resin, the kraft lignin, the surfactant, the alkaline compound, and the water.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a binder for producing materials based on wood chips and/or wood fibers. The aim of the invention is to design a binder which is used for producing and gluing materials based on wood chips and/or wood fibers, contains natural protein components, significantly reduces or even eliminates the drawbacks of the prior art, and can be economically produced and used. Said aim is achieved by a binder which is used for materials based on wood chips and/or wood fibers, comprises an aldehyde-based condensation resin and other additives, and is characterized in that the binder comprises a water-soluble reactive additive containing a peptide/amino acid mixture without moieties of water-insoluble and high-viscosity proteins. The invention also relates to a method for producing said binder as well as a molded article.
