摘要: Zinc complex greases with different complexing acids having dropping points comparable to lithium greases and tailor-made dropping points can be made by processing at low temperature in open as well as close kettle process. The present invention discloses a process of manufacturing Zinc complex greases—through reaction of fatty acid and complexing acid with zinc oxide in mineral oil to obtain zinc complex greases having high dropping points of 180 to 280° C.

The threaded connection for pipes or tubes according to the present embodiment includes a pin and a box. The pin and the box each include a contact surface including a threaded portion. The threaded connection for pipes or tubes includes, as an outermost layer, a lubricant coating layer formed from the aforementioned composition on at least one of the contact surfaces of the pin and the box.

摘要: A method for improving corrosion resistance, while maintaining or improving fuel efficiency, in an engine or other mechanical component lubricated with a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition comprising a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and at least one friction modifier having an elemental composition comprising one or more of nitrogen (N), oxygen (O), and phosphorus (P), as a minor component. The formulated oil has a corrosion factor, based on the elemental composition of the at least one friction modifier, of less than 500, as determined by the formula: 12900(N wt %)+3967(O wt %)−8524(P wt %)−250=corrosion factor. The lubricating oils are useful as passenger vehicle engine oils (PVEO) and commercial vehicle engine oils (CVEO).

The composition and methods for manufacture produce nanofluid gels so that the settlement of nanoparticles in a base fluid is improved due to the inhibition of particle movement in the gel. The nanofluid gel is produced by using a gelling agent which is either coated on the nanoparticles prior to dispersion in the base fluid or directly introduced in the base fluid.

摘要: The invention provides a lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity, 0.1 wt % to 10 wt % of an overbased detergent, and 0.01 wt % to 5 wt % of a non-hydroxy terminated acylated polyalkylene oxide. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device (such as an internal combustion engine) with the lubricating composition. The invention further relates to the use of the non-hydroxy terminated acylated polyalkylene oxide to provide at least one of (i) improved sludge handling, (ii) reduced lead or copper corrosion, (iii) increased oxidation resistance, (iv) improved acid control, (v) reduced wear (such as cam wear or lifter wear), (vi) retention of total base number of the lubricant, and/or (vii) improved seal compatibility in an internal combustion engine.
