Abstract: An aftertreatment system for a vehicle is connectable to an internal combustion engine The aftertreatment system includes an oxidation catalyst, a first NOx sensor arranged upstream the oxidation catalyst, a second NOx sensor arranged downstream the oxidation catalyst, and a control unit comprising a processor device configured to determine a sensor based conversion ratio of nitric oxides to nitrogen dioxides by the oxidation catalyst from data received from first and second NOx sensor, obtain an estimated conversion ratio of nitric oxides to nitrogen dioxides by the oxidation catalyst from a model, and determine a malfunction condition of the aftertreatment system in response to the sensor based conversion ratio being different from the estimated conversion ratio, and perform a responsive action of the aftertreatment system based on the malfunction condition.

Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring inerting in an exhaust gas discharge of a production facility includes a first flow measuring unit; a second flow measuring unit, and a monitoring unit. The first flow measuring unit is connectable to a first flow meter arranged in a first supply line of a first gas to the production facility and the second flow measuring unit is connectable to a second flow meter arranged in a second supply line of a second gas to the exhaust gas discharge. The first flow measuring unit determines a first gas quantity supplied to the production facility and the second flow measuring unit determines a second gas quantity of the second gas supplied to the exhaust gas discharge. The monitoring unit triggers a safety-related control function based on the determined first and second gas quantity.

Abstract: A method for predicting urea crystal build-up in an engine system when operating according to an intended drive cycle. The method includes providing data representing engine operational conditions for the internal combustion engine during the intended drive cycle, wherein the data comprises values for at least engine speed and engine torque distributed over a time period representing the intended drive cycle; determining values and time variation for at least one exhaust parameter during the time period of the intended drive cycle when the engine system is operated according to the engine operational condition data; providing a reference relation between values and time variation for the at least one exhaust parameter and an expected urea crystal build-up in the engine system when operating the engine system at different engine operational conditions, predicting urea crystal build-up in the engine system when operating according to the intended drive cycle by comparing the determined values and time variation for the at least one exhaust parameter with the reference relation.

Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for decreasing harmful emissions is provided. The system includes an aftertreatment system comprising an exhaust conduit that directs exhaust gas from an engine system; a heater coupled to the aftertreatment system and configured to provide heat; and a controller coupled to the heater. The controller is configured to: determine whether the engine system is idling; in response to determining that the engine system is idling, determine whether a conversion efficiency of the engine system is greater than a threshold value; in response to determining that the conversion efficiency is greater than the threshold value, determine whether a temperature regarding the aftertreatment system is greater than a threshold temperature; and in response to determining that the temperature of the aftertreatment system is greater than the threshold temperature, at least one of disable or partially disable the heater.
