Abstract: An ignition coil for an internal combustion engine is equipped with an assembly of a connector casing and a coil body. The coil body includes a primary winding wound around a primary spool. The connector casing has terminals each of which is equipped with a conductor fastener. The conductor fastener has a slit in which one of ends of the primary winding is fit to make an electric connection between the terminal and the primary winding. The primary spool has conductor guides and a backup support to establish alignment of each of the ends of the primary winding with one of the conductor fasteners and also to facilitate insertion of each of the ends of the primary winding into one of the conductor fasteners when the coil body is fitted into the connector casing, thereby ensuring the stability of electric connection between the primary winding and the terminal.

Abstract: In a control apparatus for a general-purpose internal combustion engine including a generator as a power supply, the generator includes a main generator coil supplying power to the stepping motor, and an auxiliary generator coil supplying power to an ignition device of the engine. The apparatus includes ignition timing controller for, when starting the engine by a manual starter, detecting that an engine speed reaches or exceeds a predetermined engine speed not exceeding a connecting rotation speed of a centrifugal clutch to retard an ignition timing of the engine, thereby suppressing increase in the engine speed to less than the connecting rotation speed, and for restoring the ignition timing to its normal timing after a predetermined time elapses from start of retarding the ignition timing. Accordingly, it suppresses overshooting of an engine speed above the connecting rotation speed even if a delay occurs in closing a throttle valve by a delay in activating the motor.

The secondary voltage and AC power are supplied to the ignition plug (1) via the high-voltage electrode (42). Thus, excellent ignition performance can be implemented while the occurrence of misfire is restrained.

Abstract: When an engine rotation speed in an engine for working machine without a governor mechanism is increase-and-decrease-controlled by switching ignition timings at a predetermined rotation speed, the response delay of the engine rotation speed with respect to the throttle opening operation is suppressed. The engine rotation speeds for switching the ignition timings are set to 4000 rpm and 5000 rpm. When the throttle opening is increased, a first ignition timing is advanced stepwise to a second ignition timing at the engine rotation speed of 4000 rpm so as to be switched to a rotation control characteristic C30 for high speed rotation. When the throttle opening is decreased, the second ignition timing is retarded stepwise to the first ignition timing at the engine rotation speed of 5000 rpm so as to be switched to a rotation control characteristic C05 for low speed rotation. The switching timing of the rotation control characteristic is different between at increase and decrease of the throttle opening. The difference can be reduced to a small amount ΔTH.

Abstract: The ignition system for internal combustion engines comprises a rotor and an armature provided with an ignition coil in which voltage signals, each having pulses of opposite polarities are cyclically induced during each revolution of the rotor; a control unit for the ignition current comprises a current-control switch which can be triggered during a positive pulse of the voltage signals, to cut off the current in the primary winding and generate a high voltage on the secondary winding of the ignition coil. A second control switch has the control electrode connected both to a current-control resistor in series with the current-control switch, and to the outlet of a voltage comparator connected to a timing circuit enabling the sparking within a pre-established time interval, during a positive pulse of each voltage signal, preventing the sparking when the engine is running below a minimum rotational speed, during the forward rotation and at the reverse rotation of the same engine.

Abstract: A circuit to achieve a large ignition advance, limitation of speed of revolutions and to prevent backfiring and reverse direction running in a magnetic ignition system that comprises a flywheel with two poles and a two-legged iron core. An ignition transformer (L3/L4), a charging coil (L1) and a triggering coil (L2) that may be connected in antiphase to the charging coil are arranged on the first leg in the direction of rotation of the flywheel. A time-constant circuit (an RC net) and a control switch (T2) are arranged between the charging coil and a main switch (T1) that open/block triggering pulses such that charging takes place one revolution later than triggering. Limitation of the speed of revolutions is achieved with a time constant that can be determined.

Abstract: In an engine ignition system that includes a rotor that rotates in synchronism with rotation of an engine, an iron core fixedly disposed opposite the outer periphery of the rotor, and a primary coil and a secondary coil that are wound concentrically around the iron core, to reduce the weight of the rotor while allowing the rotational balance of the rotor to be easily adjusted, simplify the arrangement of the rotor itself, and secure an effectively usable space in the region on the inside of the rotor in the radial direction. Permanent magnets are fitted to the iron core having a plurality of legs opposite the outer periphery of the rotor at positions that are spaced in the peripheral direction of the rotor, and an inductor is fixed to the outer periphery of the rotor. The inductor forms a magnetic path for the magnetic flux that is formed by the permanent magnets between pairs of legs. The legs in a pair are adjacent to each other in the peripheral direction of the rotor, and the winding of the primary coil and the secondary coil around the iron core allows a spark plug to be energized every time the inductor passes the pairs of legs.

A main switch controls the flow of power from the primary power supply to the main circuit through the feed circuit.
