    摘要: A method for determining whether a target of interest located within radar resolution cells in a target area of interest is detectable with a radar system from a location and elevation of the radar system is described. The method includes the steps of (a) developing a topographic map of the terrain in the target area of interest; (b) mapping the radar resolution cells onto the topographic map; (c) modeling radar signal propagation to each of the radar resolution cells on the topographic map; and (d) determining, using the results of the modeling, if the radar system has sufficient signal-to-noise (SNR) to detect the target of interest.

    摘要: A method according to an aspect of the invention is for filtering coherent multipulse radar, sonar or lidar returns. The method comprises the steps of separating the returns into mutually orthogonal I & Q components, performing wavelet processing on the I and Q components to generate an I & Q wavelet filter output. The I & Q wavelet filter outputs are data compressed to remove clutter portions. Data compression may be removal of large-amplitude or earliest wavelet responses. An inverse wavelet filtering function is performed on the compressed wavelet filter outputs, to thereby generate edited coherent I & Q components. Doppler filtering, is performed on the edited coherent I and Q components to thereby generate frequency-domain target data in which the minimum discernible target velocity is improved.

    摘要: A system and method for identifying the position of an airborne platform on a flight path includes at least three radar transceivers that are directed along respective beam paths to generate return signals. Each of the return signals respectively indicate a speed and a direction of the platform relative to points on the surface of the earth. A computer uses the return signal to establish a ground speed, an altitude and a direction of flight for the platform. This information is then used to identify the position of the platform on its flight path. Additionally, the system can include a last known position, or a site-specific radar clutter model, to establish a start point for the platform. The computer can then calculate the position of the platform relative to the start point.

    摘要: A small target phased array Doppler detection system receives signals from remote moving targets and determines Doppler frequency shift and the respective powers of coherent electromagnetic signals for the purpose of detection and identification of relatively small, slow moving targets in the presence of scattering echoes due to clutter. The system employs covariance analysis of the received signals followed by eigenanalysis to produce eigenvectors and eigenvalues. A superresolution algorithm creates dwell manifold vectors which indicate velocities of targets from the eigenvectors. The relative power of radar echoes contribute information relevant to the identification of real moving targets as opposed to false alarms.
