    摘要: Heat-curable epoxy resin compositions and the use thereof, for example, in motor vehicle construction and sandwich panel construction, are disclosed. Exemplary heat-curable epoxy resin compositions include, in addition to epoxy resin components A1, optionally A2, a hardener component B, a carboxylic acid C and a hydroxyalkylamide or hydroxyalkylurea H, an accelerator E for activation of the conversion of components A1, A2 and B. The compositions and the structural foams produced therefrom are notable for high mechanical strength, high glass strength and good adhesion capacity on metallic and nonmetallic substrates, and it is possible at the same time to dispense with the use of toxic or inflammable blowing agents.

The method includes: applying at least one curable powder coating composition to at least a portion of the interior of a mold, e.g., a lens mold, wherein at least one of the applied powder coating compositions includes a photochromic amount of photochromic material; curing at least partially the applied photochromic powder coating; charging a polymerizable organic casting composition into the mold; polymerizing the casting composition; and removing a shaped article having a photochromic coating on at least a portion of its surface from the mold.

    摘要: An anhydride-cured epoxy resin (epoxy resin+anhydride curing agent+catalyst) may be fortified (i.e. increased in strength and modulus without being made brittle) by the addition of a carboxylic acid and the reaction product of a carboxylic acid anhydride and a substituted aromatic amine. Strengths as high as 125 MPa and moduli as high as 3500 MPa have been attained, as well as elongations up to 6% and an increase in the ability of the plastic to yield before fracture (ductility), compared to 80 MPa strength, 3000 MPa modulus and 2.4% elongation for the unfortified system (strengths and moduli are tensile).

    摘要: Resistance to thermal shock of certain anhydride cured epoxy resins is unexpectedly enhanced by addition of certain polyether diureide additives. This superior resistance does not appreciably compromise heat deflection properties. The resins comprise a vicinal polyepoxide, a curing amount of a certain bicyclic anhydride and an effective amount of a polyether diureide having terminal ureido groups and a molecular weight of from about 2,000 to about 3,000.
