摘要: In some aspects, provided herein are antimicrobial compositions comprising partially esterified polygalacturonic acid and certain fatty acids (e.g., caprylic acid). In some embodiments, the antimicrobial composition may be administered (e.g., topically or orally) to a subject, such as a human patient to treat an infection (e.g., an infection comprising a biofilm). In some aspects, improved catheters are provided.

摘要: A corrosion inhibitor composition, which includes i) an aqueous alcohol base fluid, ii) a mixture of at least three polysaccharides selected from carboxymethyl cellulose, gum arabic, pectin, a salt of alginic acid, chitosan, dextran, hydroxyethyl cellulose, and soluble starch, with each polysaccharide that is present in the mixture being present in an amount of 0.05 to 0.5 wt. %, based on a total weight of the corrosion inhibitor composition, iii) silver nanoparticles, and iv) a pineapple leaves extract. A method of inhibiting corrosion of metal during acid cleaning/pickling whereby the metal is treated with an acidic treatment fluid containing an acid and the corrosion inhibitor composition.

摘要: A cell culture article is provided. The cell culture article includes a substrate of a polygalacturonic acid compound crosslinked with a divalent cation, the polygalacturonic acid compound being selected from at least one of: pectic acid; partially esterified pectic acid, partially amidated pectic acid and salts thereof. The substrate is digestible by digestion reagents into components including of galacturonic acid monomers and the divalent cation. Methods of harvesting cells from the cell culture article are also provided. The methods include performing a series of wash and/or centrifugation cycles to reduce components in the harvest solution.

摘要: Multiple colloids or hydrogels may each have a different chemical composition. A printer may extrude the colloids or hydrogels to form a physical object, in such a way that which hydrogel or colloid is deposited—or the amount of each hydrogel or colloid that is deposited—varies as a function of spatial position. Thus, the material composition and material properties of the physical object may vary at different locations. In some cases, physical properties of the structure being fabricated, such as surface roughness and hydrophilicity, are directly related to relative proportions of the materials being deposited and their fabrication processes. In some cases, cells, microorganisms, nutrients or other bioactive materials are embedded in or introduced to the fabricated structure. In some cases, the different materials in different spatial positions in the fabricated object may have different abilities to immobilize, localize, and stabilize specific nutrients and chemical signals.

摘要: A ply-bonding agent or adhesive composition characterized by a viscosity and a surface tension for the manufacture of paper tissue and paper towel, includes: (a) water; (b) nanofibrillated cellulose; and (c) one or more modifiers effective to modify either or both of (i) the viscosity of the composition or (ii) the surface tension of the composition, wherein the one or more additional modifiers are selected from the group consisting of components (iii), (iv), (v), (vi), (vii) or (viii), wherein: (iii) is PVOH and a viscosity modifier; (iv) is a viscosity modifier; (v) is a viscosity modifier and a surface tension modifier other than PVOH; (vi) is a water-soluble cellulose derivative; (vii) is a water soluble polyol; and (viii) is a surface tension modifier other than PVOH. The compositions are particularly useful for ply-bonding multi-ply absorbent sheet when the plies are treated with debonder.

摘要: A process for producing a water-insoluble shaped material, including a step of treating a raw material shaped material containing a water-soluble salt of a polyanionic polysaccharide with a treatment liquid containing an acid anhydride to insolubilize the raw material shaped material in water, and the process makes it possible to simply produce a water-insoluble shaped material in which intrinsic characteristics of the polyanionic polysaccharide being a raw material are retained, which has a high safety in that a chemical crosslinking agent is not required, and which is useful as a medical material, a food material, a cosmetic material, and the like.
