    摘要: A method for forming a vent port in a glass panel and a glass panel product manufactured using the same. The vent port has no protruding vent pipe, such that the vent port discharging gas from a sealed space to the outside is formed in either one of a pair of plate glasses separated in a thickness-direction to form the sealed space therebetween, produced by: forming an exhaust hole in either one of the plate glasses; vertically inserting a vent-pipe-type sealing material into the upper portion of the exhaust hole; discharging gas from a space between the plate glasses to the outside; heating the sealant member such that the sealing material is converted into fluid and the exhaust hole is closed by the sealing material having collapsed after being heated; and solidifying the sealing material remaining in the exhaust hole, ensuring good sealing properties without using a protruding vent pipe.

    摘要: A pressure compensating device for a plasma display panel expands from an unextended position at lower altitudes to an expanded position at high altitudes to maintain the pressure differential across the panel sidewalls within predetermined limits. One embodiment includes a bellows assembly positioned on the rear wall of the plasma panel. The end wall of the bellows contacts an internal stop at lower altitudes so that the volume inside the bellows is as small as possible. As the pressure differential across the panel sidewall increases, either as a result of changes in the ambient temperature or pressure, the bellows moves in an axial direction to its extended position providing an additional volume in which the panel gas is received. Accordingly, the pressure differential across the panel sidewall can be maintained below a certain predetermined level irregardless of changes in ambient pressures and temperatures.

    摘要: In the manufacture of a gas discharge type display panel, by applying a sealing operation along with an exhausting operation, the sealing glass 14 is broken down by a pressure difference between the inside and outside of the panel, and thus, the clearance gap between the substrates can be controlled as desired. In addition, the gaseous component that is unnecessary for the discharge operation is exhausted by setting the temperature of the amorphous sealing glass to exceed its softening-point and be no more than its working point. In the structure of the gas discharge type display panel, a protruding portion having a radius of curvature between 0.1 mm and 1 mm is formed on the sealing glass to reduce the dispersion in the thickness direction of the sealing glass, or the cross-sectional shape of the sealing glass is made convex both at its inside end part and its outside end part.

A stress remains in the substrates such that the two substrates are pressed to each other with an elastic deformation. In preparing the two substrates, the front panel and back panel are respectively warped towards each other so that the facing inner surfaces are convex in being sealed with each other. A height difference ratio of the central portion from a central part of a short side of the back substrate is preferably less than 0.16%. A height difference ratio of the central portion from a central part of a short side of the front substrate is preferably less than 0.06%. Difference of the height difference ratios of the back substrate and the front substrate is preferably 0 to 0.1 point.
