摘要: In a method and a device according to the present invention, two piezo-elements of a piezo-electric actuator are driven with two voltages having a mutual phase difference. One of said piezo-elements is charged by a capacitive voltage step-up means to a voltage exceeding an available power supply voltage. A capacitor is coupled to the piezo-element, which divides the voltage of the piezo-element and simultaneously transfers part of the energy stored in the piezo-element to said capacitor. A part of the energy transferred to said capacitor is later transferred back to said piezo-element, providing an energy-saving feature. The second piezo-element is driven in a similar way providing the required phase difference. In a further embodiment, the waveforms of the two driving signals are corrected using balancing capacitors.

摘要: The power supply installation for a direct current railroad comprises two diode bridge-connected circuits, only two thyristor breakers each connected in parallel to each of the two diode bridge-connected circuits, four dc disconnecting switches each connected between a diode bridge-connected circuit and one of four electric car power supply lines constituting a double track, separately. Further, the two diode bridge-connected circuits are connected by a dc disconnecting switch closed only in case of an accident. In case a ground fault occurs at a power supply line, a powering current to the defective line is interrupted by one of the breakers, together with an extension power supply current supplied from an adjacent substation, without exerting an influence of accident upon the other power supply lines. Further, even if one of the breakers is broken, powering currents are kept supplied to all the power supply lines through a mutual spare bus bar.

摘要: An energy system that couples or integrates an electrochemical converter, such as a fuel cell for the production of electricity, with a Heating, Ventilation and Cooling (HVAC) system, is disclosed. Waste heat generated by the fuel cell is radiatively, convectively, or conductively directed to a thermal component, such as a heat-actuated chiller or a boiler, of an HVAC system. The HVAC system receives the waste heat to produce a conditioned fluid, e.g. heated or cooled air or water, or steam, for heating, cooling, or industrial uses. The invention provides an improved efficiency energy system capable of providing electricity, heating and cooling, such as for a commercial facility or for residences. Also disclosed in an interface exchange element for convectively coupling an electrochemical converter to the HVAC system. The interface exchange element receives heated exhaust gases generated by the fuel cell and extracts heat therefrom for transfer to a thermal component, such as heat-actuated chiller or a boiler, of an HVAC system.

摘要: A closable bag of flexible material is provided with a separate inlet member (3) with an opening for filling the bag with a substance, for instance liquid, which inlet member is fastened to the bag. A separate member (7) is arranged for closing the filling opening from inside the bag. The closing member (7) for its closing of the filling opening is arranged for releasable sealing engagement with the inlet member (3), thereby enabling a subsequent partial discharge and reclosing of the bag. The separate inlet and closing members (3, 7) are substantially resistant to deformation and have means (6, 12) for engagement by respective elements of an operating equipment (13-16) arranged outside the bag. The operating equipment includes a filling member connectable to the inlet member, and means for sterilizing a space formed between the filling and closing members.

摘要: Pyrophoric elemental phosphorus-containing material, e.g., solid waste containing high levels of elemental phosphorus (P.sub.4), is treated by contact with an oxygen-containing gas, such as air, to reduce the amount of elemental phosphorus contained therein while it is otherwise protected from contact with oxygen in the air by being blanketed by a non-flammable fluid (e.g., while under an aqueous protective layer). This renders the material less pyrophoric and also enables the recovery of phosphorus values therefrom, e.g., in the form of a weak phosphoric acid solution. This treatment, for example, mobilizes highly pyrophoric solid waste into a more flowable sludge or mud form while rendering it substantially more non-pyrophoric.
