    摘要: The present invention pertains to metallurgical processes and equipment and, more particularly, to a metallurgical furnace capable of operating with a broad range of broad range of raw materials and fuels, including those with high levels of impurities. Accordingly, the metallurgical furnace of the present invention comprises (i) at least an upper tub, (ii) at least a lower tub, (iii) at least a fuel feeder positioned substantially between the at least an upper tub and the at least a lower tub, (iv) at least a row of tuyeres positioned on at least one of at least an upper tub and at least a lower tub, the at least a row of tuyeres fluidly communicating inside the furnace with the outside environment, and (v) at least a burner positioned on at least one of at least an upper tub and at least a lower tub. The use of at least a burner jointly with the at least a row of tuyeres generates a very intense release of heat by virtue of the exothermic reactions which occur by this combination.

    摘要: A process for melting metal in a shaft furnace operated without coke using a liquid or gaseous fuel, whose combustion products initially heat the molten metal which has collected below the furnace hearth (2) in furnace shaft (1) to the desired tapping temperature, followed by the introduction thereof into the furnace shaft for melting the metal. Furnace shaft and furnace hearth are seperated by a water-cooled grid (6), which carries the charge introduced into the shaft. The flame temperature of burner (3) is controlled through preheating the combustion air. The combustion air is recuperatively heated by the waste gases of the shaft furnace. The heat transfer in the recuperator (4) is variable and can be influenced by the supply of cooling air to the waste gases prior to recuperation, by a controllable induced draft blower behind the recuperator and/or after-burning of the waste gases prior to the introduction thereof into the recuperator.

    摘要: An improved blast furnace for heating granular materials is provided of the "CCR" type which includes two similar stacks disposed side by side, one of which heats the goods by direct current while the discharging gases escape from the other parallel unheated stack in a countercurrent manner. Both of the stacks are provided with an annular channel between the heating and cooling zones thereof which is formed by hollow generally cylindrical members which are connected with each other by cross-intersecting channels. These cylinders are suspended in the enlarged bosh-like lower ends of the stacks by supports which do not extend below the cylinder members, so as to minimize damage to the supports.
