摘要: A light absorbing layer which is bonded to a laser medium to configure a bonded body, wherein the light absorbing layer is formed from a glass material and, in an oscillation wavelength (wavelength of 650 nm or more and less than 1400 nm) of the laser medium, an absorption coefficient is 0.1 to 10.0 cm−1, a difference in refractive index between the light absorbing layer and the laser medium is within ±0.1, and a difference in linear thermal expansion coefficient between the light absorbing layer and the laser medium is within ±1 ppm/K. The present invention relates to a light absorbing layer for preventing parasitic oscillation, and aims to provide a material capable of suppressing the manufacturing cost and which can be easily processed for preparing a bonded body.

摘要: A diode-pumped solid state laser system and a method of diode-pumping a solid state laser in which the emitter beamlets in the diode bar are directed at a beam transformation optical element which includes a continuous twisted surface to produce a uniform and symmetrised beam in the fast field which is then focused to match an input pump area of the gain medium of the solid state laser. Embodiments to square and rectangular flat-top intensity distributions are described using a Fourier lens and a set of cylindrical orthogonal lenses.

摘要: An electrodeless laser-driven light source includes a laser that generates a CW sustaining light. A pump laser generates pump light. A Q-switched laser crystal receives the pump light generated by the pump laser and generates pulsed laser light at an output in response to the generated pump light. A first optical element projects the pulsed laser light along a first axis to a breakdown region in a gas-filled bulb comprising an ionizing gas. A second optical element projects the CW sustaining light along a second axis to a CW plasma region in the gas-filled bulb comprising the ionizing gas. A detector detects plasma light generated by a CW plasma and generates a detection signal at an output. A controller generates control signals that control the pump light to the Q-switched laser crystal so as to extinguish the pulsed laser light within a time delay after the detection signal exceeds a threshold level.

摘要: Provided herein are systems and methods of manufacture and operation for a compact laser to achieve high-intensity output pulses. These compact laser resonators and methods rely upon separate and distinct functions of the laser resonator to be operated in balance such that the functions, while deleterious when separate are supportive of laser generation and growth when combined within a small volume laser resonator as described herein. The combined elements of the described laser resonator include a delicate balance that allows the laser to operate between plane-parallel operation and unstable operation. This operation mode further allows distinct methods of construction and operation that allow the compact laser to be reliably assembled and tested during assembly. Therefore, despite requiring a delicate balance of disparate elements, the described laser resonator results in a compact robust laser.

In addition, the solid-state laser medium has a thickness of 1 mm or more, and the solid-state medium and the magneto-optical material are directly joined. Consequently, the Q-switch is applicable to high optical output and contributes to the miniaturization of a laser apparatus.

摘要: A method of generating light with a laser-driven light source includes generating a CW sustaining light and propagating the CW sustaining light to a gas filled bulb comprising an ionizing gas. A pump light is generated. A Q-switched laser crystal is irradiated with the generated pump light, thereby generating pulsed laser light. The pulsed laser light is propagated to the gas filled bulb comprising the ionizing gas so as to generate a CW plasma that emits light. The light generated by the CW plasma in the gas filled bulb is detected. The pump light is controlled so as to extinguish the pulsed laser light after the light generated by the CW plasma is detected.

摘要: The passively q-switched diode end-pumped solid-state laser is used the gain medium made of Er:Yb doped crystal and the Q-switch made of Co2+:MgAl2O4 crystal. The optical elements are optimally designed for the resonator to achieve pulse energy in a range 0.5 mJ≤E≤2 mJ with the pulse width in a range of 4 ns-15 ns. The resonator is appropriate to use in laser rangefinders, target designator, and other products in military and civilian applications.

摘要: Apparatus and methods for producing ultrashort optical pulses are described. A high-power, solid-state, passively mode-locked laser can be manufactured in a compact module that can be incorporated into a portable instrument. The mode-locked laser can produce sub-50-ps optical pulses at a repetition rates between 200 MHz and 50 MHz, rates suitable for massively parallel data-acquisition. The optical pulses can be used to generate a reference clock signal for synchronizing data-acquisition and signal-processing electronics of the portable instrument.

At least one of the first base and the holder includes a first regulating part configured to regulate a position of the first base with respect to the holder, and at least one of the second base and the holder includes a second regulating part configured to regulate a position of the second base with respect to the holder.
