The system (10) uses a scrubber tank (22) containing a carbon dioxide absorbent fluid (24) to capture CO2 in the exhaust. The system (10) also includes a carbon dioxide storage means (34) configured to temporarily store the captured CO2, and a CO2 recovery facility (44) to refine the captured CO2 for future use or prepare the CO2 for permanent storage. An underfill material (62) is present between the device (12) and the substrate (10) and encapsulates the solder connections (56,58). The underfill material (62) is separated from the intermediate surface region (18) of the substrate (10) so that the underfill material (62) does not contact the element (30).
